Pawan Khera moves SC over Gauhati HC bail denial in Assam CM’s wife’s FIR

NEW DELHI, April 26 : Congress leader Pawan Khera has moved the Supreme Court challenging the Gauhati High Court’s refusal to grant him anticipatory bail in a case stemming from an FIR filed by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, over his allegations that she holds multiple passports.

Khera filed a Special Leave Petition in the apex court on Sunday.

Earlier, on April 10, the Telangana High Court granted Khera one week of transit anticipatory bail and allowed him to approach the appropriate court. The plea had been filed in Hyderabad, where Khera was said to have a residence. Subsequently, the Assam Police challenged this order in the Supreme Court, which on April 15 stayed the Telangana High Court’s grant of transit anticipatory bail.

On April 17, the Supreme Court declined Khera’s plea to vacate the stay imposed by it on the transit anticipatory bail granted to him by the Telangana High Court.

The Congress leader has claimed that the Assam CM’s wife, Riniki Bhuyan Sharma, holds three passports.
