UDHAMPUR, Nov 17: Senior leader Pawan Khajuria, along with his prominent colleagues and supporters held a massive protest against the admission to non-Hindus in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence.
The protest was held at Sailan Talab Chowk, Udhampur and a large number of workers, women, and others from various areas of Udhampur East Assembly constituency took part in the demonstration.
They raised slogans against the Government and demanded that admission in the Institute should be given only to Sanatani students. They also charged the J&K Government with failure on all fronts.
Speaking on the occasion, Pawan Khajuria said that Shri Mata Vaishno Devi is a symbol of faith, and religious sentiments of the Hindus with whose offerings, the Shrine Board runs SMVDU, SMVD Narayana Hospital and the Institute of Medical Excellence.
“To ensure that the devotees of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi do not feel hurt, the SMVD Medical Institute should give admission only to Sanatani students. This, is also the voice of the entire country,” he stressed.
Pawan Khajuria also alleged that the incumbent Government of Jammu & Kashmir has not fulfilled the promises it made before the elections. “Families who lost their land and became homeless due to natural calamities are still forced to live in tents during the winter season. The Government’s attitude toward these families is worrying, and this is eroding the public’s trust in the Government, leading to rising public anger,” he said, adding that increasing public anger could lead to a law-and-order situation in the region, and the Government must address this.
Pawan Khajuria also appealed people to stay alert, help each other, and remain aware of the situation around them as Pakistan and its sponsored elements were hell bent trying to disturb peace here.
Senior leaders Somraj, Bishan Das, Rakesh Gupta, Advocate Amit Sharma, Captain Gopal Singh, SarpanchMukund Sharma, Yaqir Hussain, Ratan Chand, Master Durga Das, Master Govind Ram, Krishna Lal, Sardari Lal, Rajkumar Buchcha, Yashpal, Rakesh Sharma, Sarpanch Balwant Raj, Naib Sarpanch Keval Sonu, Makkhan Lal and others joined the protest demonstration.
