JAMMU, June 1: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Simrandeep Singh has ordered suspension of Patwari Halqa Maralian Varun Dogra for engaging some private persons for doing his revenue works.
As per the order, a complaint was received by Deputy Commissioner Jammu wherein it was alleged that Varun Dogra, Patwari Halqa Maralian, falling under Niabat Maralian, Tehsil RS Pura has engaged some private persons for doing his revenue works, who were operating as mafia and indulging in corruption by demanding extraneous consideration from people.
The SDM RS Pura was asked to enquire into allegations and furnish his report. The SDM, in his report, confirmed the allegation that a retired Naib Tehsildar has been engaged by the Patwari for doing his revenue work. It was also confirmed by the SDM that retired Naib Tehsildar was even entering mutations and issuing Fard-Intekals.
“It is a matter of serious concern that the Patwari has engaged retired official for doing his official works for which retired officer has full access to the revenue records”, reads the order issued by the Deputy Commissioner, adding “the retired official has no accountability  to keep custody of the revenue records and there is every apprehension of damage, loss, tampering and manipulation by the concerned retired revenue official”.
Presuming that the Patwari concerned is not capable/trained to perform his official duties of maintenance and updation of revenue records on his own, Deputy Commissioner has ordered immediate suspension of Varun Dogra with the direction to report to Principal Revenue Training Institute, Jammu, for undergoing a crash course in Urdu and revenue related aspects.
Principal RTI has been asked to conduct special course for the Patwari and give a final certificate that the Patwari is fully capable and trained to handle the revenue records on his own.
Meanwhile, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Adm) will immediately conduct departmental enquiry against the Patwari.
