Patwari convicted for bribe, sentenced to imprisonment

JAMMU, Dec 31: Holding Mohammad Razak, then Patwari halqa Chinore, guilty for demanding and accepting the bribe of Rs 1000, the court has sentenced the accused to undergo imprisonment for a period of one year and also imposed a fine of Rs 50,000 on him.
Mohammad Razak along with co-accused Kaka Ram, then Chowkidar, were caught red handed by the Vigilance team while demanding and accepting bribe from one Rattan Lal for entering mutation in Revenue records.
A case FIR number 09/2007 Police Station VOJ, was registered in this regard and after completion of investigation, challan was produced in the court and charges were framed against both the accused on 16-10-2008.
The Court deliberated upon the prosecution as well as defense evidence and announced the sentence for commission of offence u/s 161 RPC r/w Section 5(1) (d) and 5(2) of PC Act.
The co-accused Kaki Ram was acquitted of the charges framed against him.
