This has reference to the news item ‘Forest Deptt hell bent to scuttle Patnitop..” DE Nov 25.
It is quite dismaying that the much touted project could not take off even after the Apex Court gave clearance for it. There were great expectations that the State Government would give its ‘Go-ahead’ signal immediately after the verdict. But nothing such happened. The project, as per the news report has become a bureaucratic casuality.
The project is aimed at to lure tourists in large numbers to the picturesque place. There is tremendous scope for exploiting tourist potential in the area. The tourism sector is supposed to play a key role in changing the socio-economic outlook of the region.
Keeping these factors in view, it is requested to the authorities not to play politics with the project. The sooner it crosses bureaucratic hurdles, the better it would be for the State, especially Patnitop region.
Much paper and field work has already been done it. There is also the financial involvement.
