JAMMU, July 6: J&K BJP Spokesperson, Ranbir Singh Pathania today joined the protest by Kisan Welfare Sabha led by its State president, Angrez Singh at Ramnagar and extended support to the demands of farmers mentioned in the memorandum send to the Governor through Tehsildar Ramnagar.
Addressing the protesters Pathania underscored the need for immediate disbursement of pending instalments under ‘Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samridhi Yojana’ and clearing the backlog of old-age and widow pensions.
“It is unfortunate that applicants from far flung areas visit offices twice a month just to know if their pension cases are cleared or not,” he said.
He lamented that farmer community is always at the receiving end and is not receiving due benefits of various centrally sponsored schemes meant for them.
He called for greater administrative initiative for ensuring true benefits of schemes for fulfilling the slogan of ‘last man in the last row’.
He said that policies and programmes of Narendra Modi led Government are primarily focused on improving well-being of the poor and down trodden.
Angrez Singh, President Kisan Welfare Sabha flayed the local Tehsil and district administration for mis-governance in the area.
He said that poor villagers are being harassed in Government offices without any justified reason and the idea of accountability and public service are least found in public offices.
The protestors resolved that they will again protest on August 5 if their demands are not met soon.
