Pathania demands regular payments to VDCs members

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, July 12: Spokesperson of J&K BJP, Ranbir Singh Pathania has demanded regular, hassle-free and pilferage-proof payments of honorarium to the members of Village Defence Committees (VDCs) across J&K.
In a memorandum to the Union Home Minister, Pathania said that VDC members have been instrumental in spurring up the fight against militancy while supplementing the operations of police in far flung and inaccessible areas.
He further said that while GoI specifies a monthly honorarium to be paid to each of the VDC members, there are some VDCs across J&K especially in the hilly region of Udhampur who have not got a penny since years.
Pathania also demanded regularization/absorption policy for SPOs who have given in prime of their youth while serving J&K Police.
