JAMMU, Feb 3: An impressive Passing- out Parade of 46 Forest guards was organized today at Forest Guards Training School, Doomi, in which 20 guards of Forest Guards Training School, Doomi and 26 forestguards of Soil Conservation Training School, Miran Sahib were awarded the certificate for successful completion of their six months professional training.
During their rigorous professional training, the forest guards were exposed to subjects like basic Forest Silviculture, Forest Mensuration, Forest Engine-ering, Forest Botany, Wildlife Management, Forest Law and Accounts etc. And to keep them physically fit , the trainees were given regular activities of PT / Parade , sports activities , marathons etc besides imparted training in Civil Defense and Survey & Demarcation by the specialist resource persons in the respective fields.
Based on their overall academic excellence, Rakesh Verma, Forestguard of Udhampur Forest Division and Ifthikar Hussain, Forest Guard of Rajouri Forest divisions stood first in their respective batch and were awarded Gold Medals. Besides academic excellence, forest guards were also evaluated for various attributes of endurance and ability to work in a team and for the exceptional qualities to work in difficult situations, in which, 6 forest guards of different forest divisions were awarded medals and trophies for extra academic performance.
Rakesh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary to Govt., J&K Forest Deptt. was the chief guest on the occasion while A.K Singh Principal Chief Conservator of Forests , J&K was the guest of honour. Speaking on the occasion, A.K. Singh, laid emphasis on human resource development in the Forest Department to meet the emerging challenges of forestry sector and underlined urgent need to orient the field functionaries towards the emerging challenges. Rakesh Kumar Gupta assured of all possible help and support of the government for the strengthening the training schools, betterment of school infra-structure, classroom facilities, laboratory equipment etc.
Function was attended by the Head of the Departments (HoD’s) , senior Forest Officers of Forest and its allied sister wings and trainees of KFT Chitternar, Bandipora. While Dr. K Anand, extended the formal welcome on the occasion , R.S Jasrotia declared the results of both schools. Concluding the function, Rakesh Abrol, Principal, Forest Guards Training School Doomi presented the formal vote of thanks on the occasion.
