Parton renews vows as she celebrates 50th wedding anniversary

LOS ANGELES, June 1:  Dolly Parton and her reclusive husband Carl Dean have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a quiet vow renewal ceremony.

The country music star first wed Dean on May 30, 1966 and the couple celebrated 50 years as husband and wife over the Memorial Day weekend, reported People magazine.

She showed off the wedding dress she wore for her second nuptials during a taping of US TV show “Home & Family”, but had no photos to show hosts Mark Steines and Cristina Ferrare because her privacy-hungry husband refused to pose for any.

The 70-year-old singer said, “My husband hates pictures, so I didn’t bring any pictures. And I told him, ‘You’re worse than my first husband’, which was him!”

Parton wore a lavish lacy gown for her renewal ceremony, insisting she wanted to really live it up for her anniversary after originally wearing a simple, short white dress for the original ceremony in 1966.

The Jolene singer and her husband are now reportedly planning a big 50th wedding anniversary party in July. (PTI)
