Participation in Commonwealth, Asian Games will depend on my fitness: Yogeshwar

NEW DELHI:  Olympic bronze medalist Yogeshwar Dutt today said that he will participate in next year’s Commonwealth Games only if he is 100 per cent fit as he is yet to recover from his knee injury.

Speaking on the sidelines of an event, the 34-year-old Haryana grappler, who had won bronze in 2012 London Olympic but ended last year’s Rio Olympic on a disappointing note, said,”I am not fully fit and still recovering from knee injury.”

Yogeshwar, who had said that Rio games will be his last Olympic, is still firm on his statement and said that his target is not the 2020 Tokyo Olympics anymore.

“Olympics is not my target now, Rio was the last. I am trying to make to the 2018 Commomwealth Games and Asian games however, I will have to be fully fit for this. I will only participate in these games when I am 100 per cent fit,” said the grappler.

“I will hit the mat only after being sure of my fitness and will not be block any other’s (wrestler) way,” clarified Yogeshwar. (AGENCIES)
