JAMMU, Mar 23: A student of Government Degree College Kathua committed suicide by hanging himself in his house this evening after he was allegedly harassed by the College Professor.
The family members, villagers took the body on the gate of Government Degree College, Kathua and raised strong protest against the concerned Professor. They were demanding the immediate arrest of the professor who they alleged was responsible for forcing the student to take the extreme step.
As per family members,  First year Degree student, Sanjay Kumar (19), son  of Bodh Raj resident if village Bhagey Chack , Kathua was found hanging in his residence this evening. When the family came to know about the unfortunate episode, the youth had died by then. A suicide note found from his pocket accused the College Professor, Rajnish Sharma of Political Science to instigate him to take this extreme step as he was harassed by the professor.
The protestors blocked the College road for an hour and demanded immediate arrest of professor. A Police team led by DySP, Shammi Kumar rushed to the spot and assured them to takes legal action against the professor.  The police took the body into its custody and shifted it to GMC for postmortem. The police later took the Professor into its custody for questioning. It also registered a case under Section 306 IPC and started further investigation into the matter.
