Will visit LAC with China, meet stakeholders

JAMMU, July 31: A Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs headed by veteran Congress leader Anand Sharma and comprising 31 members will be visiting the Union Territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on a week-long tour beginning August 16 for on spot assessment of the prevailing situation by meeting with various stakeholders besides visiting the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in Ladakh where the Sino-Indian troops are involved in conflict.
The PSC will visit Ladakh on August 16 and 17 and Jammu and Kashmir from August 18-22. It will be in Srinagar on August 18 and 19 and Jammu on August 20 and 21 before departing for New Delhi from Jammu on August 22.
Significantly, the PSC on Home Affairs will visit Border Out Posts (BOPs) located near the Line of Actual Control along China for on spot assessment of working conditions of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP). It will meet the representatives of Home Affairs at Leh to take stock of administration, development and people’s welfare in the UT of Ladakh and will meet selected stakeholders on development and people’s issues, official sources told the Excelsior.
The Panel will be briefed by the top officials of the ITBP on their arrival in Leh on August 16.
On August 18, the PSC members will meet selected stakeholders in Srinagar and discuss the issues pertaining to administration, development and people’s welfare. On August 19, it will meet representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs and will visit carious camps of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
The Standing Committee will reach Jammu on August 20. On August 21, the Parliamentary Panel will review preparedness for disaster management at holy cave shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi Ji. The same day, it will meet representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs and BSF to review working conditions of the BSF.
It will return to New Delhi from Jammu on August 22.
Headed by senior Congress leader Anand Sharma, the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs has 31 members but presently there are three vacancies.
The members include SR Balasubramoniyam, P Bhattacharya, Dr Anil Jain, Satish Chandra Misra, Neeraj Shekhar, Rakesh Sinha, Sanjay Bhatia, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, Dr Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar, Dilip Ghosh, Dulal Chandra Goswami, Kirron Kher, Gajanan Chandrakant Kirtikar, Dayanidhi Maran, Raja Amareshwara Naik, Jamyang Tsering Namgyal, Ranjeetsingh Naik Nimnalkar, Lalubhai Babhibhai Patel, Gajendra Singh Patel, RK Singh Patel, Vishnu Dayal Ram, Pothugantui Ramulu, Sarmishta Sethi, Dr Satya Pal Singh, PP Mohammad Faizal, Ravneet Singh and Geetha Viswanath Vanga.
