KATRA, Jan 3: The much awaited demand of the people of Katra and pilgrims in particular came to conclusion today with the starting of parking lot/Auto-Taxi stand at Railway Station Katra facilitating the onwards journey of the pilgrims towards their destinations.
President, Hotel and Restaurant Association (HRA), Katra, Rakesh Wazir, inaugurated the parking lot/Auto Taxi-stand by breaking the coconut in presence of Station Superintendent, Jugal Kishore Sharma, SHO General Railway Police, Surjeet Kumar, chairman HRA, Shyam Lal Kesar, chairman and director, KMVD Hotels and Restaurants Pvt Ltd, Krishan Lal Thaur and Raj Singh, respectively besides the representatives of Auto and Taxi Unions.
While speaking on the occasion Wazir said that with the opening of the parking lot/Auto-Taxi stand the long pending demand of the people and yatries in particular who had to walk the long distance merely for taking the Autos, Taxies or other vehicles for boarding has been fulfilled and requested the Railway authorities for starting the functioning of Passenger Reservation System (PRS) building too which has been already constructed but lying non functional.
He further said that the DMU to Katra which was a big facility to the local people including employees and students because of its more stoppages and low fair be started at the earliest because in the absence of that the people are facing lot of problems.
Prominent among others who attended the function included Ashu Kumar, president, Auto Union Katra, Sukhdev Singh and Parkash Raj, president and general secretary of Taxi Operators Union Katra, respectively.
