SRINAGAR, Nov 21: Parikarma Navmi was celebrated at holy shrine of Jagat Amba Chakreshwar (Hari Parbhat) by Kashmiri Pandits after a gap of 33 years today.
The Kashmiri Pandits putting up in Valley participated in the celebrations and circumambulated the hill lock of Hari Parbhat.
This function was performed for the first time after a gap of 33 years since the militancy gripped Kashmir in 1989.
This was a tradition in Kashmir to circumambulate (have Parikrama) of Hari Parbat Shrine (entire hill rock of Hari Parbat) in Kartik month of Hindu calendar.
Sharika Chakreshwar Sanastha under the leadership of Ranjeet Gurkha revived this centuries old tradition where in lot of devotees took Parikrama early on the cold Winter morning today. Gurkha pronounced this as a step towards the return of Kashmiryat and Kashmiri culture of coexistence in the Valley.
Civil society member, Dr Sandeep Mava also participated in this Parikrama along with other prominent members of the community.
