KATHUA, July 26: The parents of school children held a protest demonstration against the district administration for not allowing public transport vehicles including buses, mini buses and van for transportation of school children.
The parents in large numbers blocked the college road in front of DC Office Kathua here for two hours and raised slogans against the district administration. The parents were demanding that the public transport be allowed for transportation of the school children without fulfilling the guideline issued by the Court .
The parents said that they are suffering a lot as the transporters are not fulfilling the formalities.
They demanded to restore the public transport service or make alternative arrangements to transport the school children. The ADC Ghanshyam Singh and Regional Transport Officer, Raj Kumar listened the pleas of parents and informed them that they are following the guidelines of court and also want the safety of the children. As unfit and out dated vehicles are transporting the school children putting their lives to grave risk. He assured them to make a solution of problem asked the transporters to fulfill the all legal formalities within a month.
The road was closed for two hours and traffic was suspended on the road till the protestors lift the dharna.
