JAMMU, May 31: Parbhat Singh Jamwal has been elected as president of Jammu and Kashmir Bank Officers Association, Jammu, elections of which were held today.
In a straight contest, he defeated Mohan Singh with a margin of 183 votes. Parbhat Singh secured 700 votes while his rival Mohan Singh was polled only 517 votes. Total 1228 votes were polled and 11 were declared invalid.
Suresh Gupta was elected as general secretary and he defeated Ravi Gupta with a huge margin of 251 votes. Suresh Gupta was polled 735 votes while Ravi Gupta could secure only 484 votes.
For the post of senior vice-president, Anil Singh Samyal secured 706 votes and defeated Narinder Wadera with a margin of 194 votes.
D K Bali and Raj Kumar Handa were declared elected as vice-presidents. They secured 680 and 640 votes, respectively while their rival Sudesh Gupta and Sarabjeet Kour were polled 455 and 434 votes respectively.
For the post of organizing secretary, Tejinder Singh Reen secured 694 votes and defeated Kamaljeet Singh, who was polled only 520 votes.
Sunil Kumar was elected as treasurer as he defeated Hardutt with a margin of 167 votes. Sunil Kumar secured 689 votes while Hardutt was polled only 522 votes.
For the post of secretary, S Sukhbir Singh, Sudesh Kumar Sharma and Vinod Kumar were declared elected as they secured 707, 662 and 656 votes, respectively.
The elections were held today through secret ballot system. S Iqbal Singh was convener of the election committee while Nishchint Gupta and Tara Singh were co-convener and committee member, respectively.
