JAMMU, May 20: All Jammu and Kashmir Paramedical Employees Association has appealed to the Governor’s administration to frame a policy to regularize the services of the paramedical staff working in GMC Jammu, GMC Srinagar and associated hospitals.
Addressing a press conference, members of the Association said that in the Government issued orders regarding recruitment of doctors and paramedical staff in the GMC Srinagar and GMC Jammu along with their associated hospitals viz Dental hospitals, CD Hospital, SMGS Hospital, Super specialty Hospital etc in order to meet out the deficiency of staff so that both the colleges along with the associated hospitals can run smoothly.
“Approximately 1100 employees were appointed against clear vacancies under these SROs 384 and 409. Right from 2010 to 2017 on merit basis with proper screening and a proper procedure was also adopted viz advertisement of post, short listed of candidates and viva-voce under 1:5 ratio. The screening and viva-voce was conducted by a committee of five officers including Principal of concerned GMC’s and since then full salary was being given to us excluding medical allowances and two and half days salary”, the members said.
They said that after the expiry of six years maximum term as per SRO neither any extension has been given to them nor any policy has been made in order to regularization their services by the Government, adding that maximum of them have attained upper age limit i.e. 40 years having no other chance to seek Government job. “Maximum of us are married now and are having families so it is not a matter of 1100 employees but of 1100 families, they said.
“There is a policy for regularizing the services of Rehbar-e-Taleem teachers, Rehbar-e-Zarat and even contractual employees, but no policy has been made to regularize our services, which is grave injustice with us”, they asserted.
They further informed that there is also a big injustice in Jammu with the para medical staff that their salaries are pending from the past 26 months, due to the reason best known to the authorities.
They have appealed to the Governor’s administration to regularize their services and secure their future.
