Srinagar, May 16: Minister Sakeena Itoo today said the recurring incidents of examination paper leaks must be addressed permanently to restore students’ trust in the education system, describing such irregularities as a grave injustice to hardworking aspirants.
Speaking to reporters on the NEET-UG paper leak, Itoo said repeated leak incidents over the past several years have severely affected students who spend years preparing for competitive examinations.

“The issue of paper leaks must be resolved once and for all,” she said, adding that repeated cancellations of examinations due to leaks create uncertainty and mental distress among students.
The Minister said students prepare for examinations with the hope of succeeding on merit, but are left disillusioned when exams are cancelled over allegations of malpractice.
“The NEET-UG paper leak is an injustice to students who work hard and expect to succeed, only to later learn that the examination has been cancelled,” she said.
Itoo urged the Union Government to take strict action against those involved in such cases.
“The Union Government must act seriously on the issue and ensure strict action against those accused,” she said.
She said incidents of paper leaks have become increasingly frequent in recent years, affecting the credibility of recruitment and entrance examinations across the country.
“Every two or three years, we learn that the paper of some examination has been leaked, leading to cancellation of exams. Students who work hard suffer, and many fall into depression,” she said.
Meanwhile, Itoo ruled out any immediate plans for work-from-home measures or a lockdown in J&K amid concerns over a possible energy crisis linked to the West Asia conflict.
“There are no plans for work from home or lockdown because J&K has suffered immensely, especially students, due to Covid and the situation before that,” she said.
