Panel to frame norms for dealing with repair of buildings near Dal Lake

JAMMU, May 15: Government of Jammu and Kashmir today accorded sanction to the constitution of committee for framing a policy to deal with the issue of repair/renovation of the buildings/houses within the 200 meters from the Dal Lake, which were legitimately constructed prior to imposition of ban by the High Court in 2002.
Headed by Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir, the 12-member committee shall lay down the norms/eligibility conditions for declaring a building to have been constructed legitimately, prior to imposition of ban by HC.
The committee shall lay down the norms for granting permission by the BOCA-LCMA for carrying out repair/renovation/reconstruction of the legitimately constructed buildings within 200 meters of Dal/Nageen lakes. It shall suggest norms for ensuring scientific and proper waste disposal as well as maintain aesthetics and heritage pattern.
DC Srinagar, Commissioner SMC, Vice-Chairman LCMA, Vice-Chairman SDA, Director Tourism Kashmir, Members Secretary PCC, Chief Engineer UEED, Chief Town Planner Kashmir are among members of the committee.
