Srinagar, May 11: Around 300 people, mostly migrant Kashmiri Pandits, gathered at Devasthan Sudhar Sabha in Hanad Chowalgam in Kulgam district of South Kashmir to celeberate ‘Ganesh Festival’.
The devotees including men, women and children started visiting the temples since yesterday and paid their obeisance besides taking part in ‘havan’ for peace, stability and prosperity in the region. Police and paramilitary personnel were deployed in strength at various temples as a precautionary measure.
Muslim neighbours greeted the visiting Kashmiri Pandits on the occasion. “We prayed for peace and harmony. I was glad to see both Muslims and Hindus, making arrangements for the festival and this is an example of brotherhood between Kashmiri Pandits and Muslims,” said Anil Raina.
With slight improvement in Valley, large numbers of Kashmir Pandits who have migrated to different parts of India are paying occasional visits to the Valley.
