UDHAMPUR, June 8: For environment awareness among the students, Pancheri Forest Range of Udhampur Division organized a programme at Higher Secondary School Pancheri.
On the occasion, a discussion on the topic “Role of youth in protection of environment” was held. The students highlighted the importance of environment in perpetual sustenance of mankind on the planet earth besides throwing knowledgeable light on causes leading to degradation of environment.
Tehsildar Pancheri, Narinder Kumar, who was chief guest on the occasion, exhorted the students to play their positive role in preservation and conservation of environmental assets around and to make all out efforts to make the surroundings neat and clean for better environmental conditions.
Range Officer Pancheri, Rakesh Sharma made the students aware regarding detrimental impacts of the degrading environment due to indiscriminate exploitation of natural resources by ever increasing population. He also termed the global warming as biggest threat to the life on planet Earth.
Prince Gupta Block Officer Lander and Rajneesh Sharma Block Officer Panjar, apprised students about the present prevailing problems and threat to mankind due to deforestation.
Symbolic plantation was also carried out in school premises by planting sapling of ornamental and shade bearing species by the Tehsildar, Dy SP Udhampur S S Baloria, Principal Baljeet Singh and SHO Pancheri Sanjay Abrol.
