Shafiq Mir, who was elected as BDC Chairman for Bafilaz block, alleged that State BJP leaders were trying to influence the elected Chairpersons for which corrupt means were being adopted. “The BJP leadership is trying to mislead by giving an impression that the elected Chairpersons are coming to their fold but the Panchayat Conference will foil their nefarious designs and expose their foul politics for good of common people,” he announced.
However, at the same time, the Panchayat Conference Chairman lauded the BJP-led Union Government for strengthening and empowering grass root level democracy in Jammu Kashmir and ending monopoly of some politicians.
Shafiq Mir, who met the visiting European Union MPs at New Delhi and apprised them of the situation in J&K, welcomed the Central Government’s move in this regard and suggested that leaders of all the political parties may also be allowed to visit Kashmir for interaction with people here.
“The Government of India is moving in right direction for restoration of peace in Jammu Kashmir and strengthening of democracy here at the grass root level,” he said and extended all possible support from the J&K Panchayat Conference in this endeavor.
