ISLAMABAD, Mar 20: The rift in the PTI has now spilled over onto the streets supporters of rival leaders held protests extending support or protesting against them for switching loyalties, Dawn reported on Sunday.
Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) supporters armed with batons and stones gathered outside the house of MNA Malik Ahmed Hassan Dehar at Nangana Chowk and shouted slogans against him for switching his loyalties. PTI supporters also protested against MNA Rana Qasim Noon for apparently supporting the no-confidence move against Prime Minister Imran Khan. The protestors torched posters of both the MNAs.
Meanwhile, workers of the opposition Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) held a rally outside the residence of another PTI dissident Noor Alam Khan to give moral support to him and his family.
PTI MPAs Nadeem Qureshi and Khalid Javed Warraich led the protest. Later they told the media that the dissidents must not play with the people’s sentiments. They demanded that all the ?turncoats? either resign and contest elections against PTI candidates or face the public wrath.
Meanwhile, a large number of Dehar’s supporters also gathered outside his house to stop his opponents from damaging his house and also shouted slogans in support of their leader.
Ex-minister Asif Iqbal Daudzai, ex-MPA Khalid Waqar Chamkani and other party leaders led JUI-Frally outside the residence of PTI MNA Noor Alam Khan, along with several workers of JUI F and Ansarul Islam, the party’s security wing.
Noor Alam Khan, a former PPP member, had joined the PTI before the 2018 general elections.
Earlier PTI supporters also held a protest outside the residence of MNA Wajiha Akram in Lahore soon after she was seen inside Sindh House in Islamabad, where the other dissenting lawmakers are staying. (UNI)
