Pakistan Kartarpur video features 3 slain Khalistan leaders

ISLAMABAD, Nov 6:Pakistan’s official song on Kartarpur corridor courted controversy as it features three slain Khalistani leaders.
The Government of Pakistan shared the video on Twitter, which shows message from Prime Minister Imran Khan, who underscores the significance of Gurdwara Darbar Sahib Kartarpur for Sikhs. The video also shows Sikh pilgrims visiting Gurudwaras across Pakistan.
However, a poster in the video showing Khalistani leaders Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, Amrik Singh Khalsa and Major General (Dismissed) Shabeg Singh has led to the controversy.
Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale, a pro-Khalistan leader, was head of a religious organisation called Damdami Taksal. Amrik Singh Khalsa was another pro-Khalistani Sikh student leader and headed the All India Sikh Students Federation (AISSD), which is now banned.
Shabeg Singh was a dismissed army officer and was present with Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale during the Operation Blue Star.
All three were killed by the Indian Army at Golden Temple in June, 1984, during Operation Blue Star.
Last year, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh had said, “Pakistan and ISI could use the Kartarpur Corridor to revive Sikh militancy in Punjab.”
The corridor, scheduled to be opened on November 9, will facilitate visa-free movement of Indian pilgrims, who will have to just obtain a permit to visit Kartarpur Sahib.
