JAMMU, June 18: Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh warned that Pakistan will try to infiltrate more terrorists and also give impetus to violence in the Kashmir Valley and elsewhere in view of the standoff between the armies of India and China in Ladakh.
He stated this while chairing a high-level meeting of officers to review the security scenario of the Union Territory particularly on the borders.
The meeting was held here and was attended by ADGP (CID) J&K RR Swain, Major General YP Khanduri, GoC 29 Infantry Division, Major General Vijay Nair GoC Tiger Division, Divisional Commissioner Jammu Sanjeev Verma, IGP BSF Jammu NS Jamwal, IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, IGP (CIV) PHQ Alok Kumar, Brigadier SK Yadav 168 Infantry, DIG BSF Sukhdev Raj, DIG BSF Jammu OP Upadhyay, DIG (G) BSF Headquarter Jammu S PS Sandhu, DIG (JSK) Range BS Tuti, SSP Jammu Shridhar Patil, AIG (CIV) PHQ Rajesh Bali. Through video conferencing, the meeting was attended by IGP BSF Kashmir Dr Rajesh Mishra, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, BGS 15 Corps. Brigadier PK Mishra, District SSPs of Handwara, Poonch, Samba, Kathua and Baramulla and other senior officers of PHQ.
DGP said that cross border infiltration attempts are being made continuously from Pakistan even in these pandemic times and we have to be extra alert to thwart all such attempts.
He said that border alongside the Pakistan needs extra attention in view of the Ladakh developments. He said that there are reports that terrorist outfits in Pakistan JeM, HM, LeT etc are joining hands to create mischief in our Union Territory.
He also said that the security presence on highway grid has been increased by putting in service mobile patrols and number of Nakas has also been increased.
DGP has also said that there is an urgent need to fill up the space in the social media as anti-national feelings can be whipped up which we need to guard against. During the meeting ceasefire violations and infiltration dynamics were discussed. It was said that there are number of camps all across the borders in various sectors where terrorists are ready to infiltrate.
IGP BSF Jammu NS Jamwal gave a power point presentation with regard to strengthening of border grid and briefed about the security plans being made on LC and IB.
ADGP CID RR Swain, Major General YP Khanduri, GoC 29 Infantry Division, Major General Vijay Nair GoC Tiger Division, IGP BSF Kashmir Dr Rajesh Mishra, IGP Jammu Mukesh Singh, IGP Kashmir Vijay Kumar, BGS 15 Corps Brigadier PK Mishra, BGS 16 Corps Colonel AK Singh and district SSPs of border district of Union Territory Handwara, Poonch, Samba, Kathua and Baramulla gave their inputs and briefings about the challenges and the measures taken by the concerned forces in their areas of responsibility.
