JAMMU:
In yet another ceasefire violation Pakistan today resorted to unprovoked firing and targetted more than 12 forward border outposts along international border in which a civilian was killed and two others including a BSF jawan were injured.
“Pakistani Rangers this morning at around 0530 hrs resorted to unprovoked fire of small arms and fired few mortar shells first in Kanhachak sector and later on in Pargwal sector of this winter capital,” an official spokesman said. The BSF also retaliated effectively, he added.
Meanwhile, police sources said one Sanjay Kumar, 28, son of Bachanlal, resident of Pargwal fell prey to bullet from across the border. He was immediately shifted to the hospital in Jammu but declared as brought dead.
Sources further said that a Jawan of 33 Battalion BSF was wounded while another civilian namely Sandeep Choudhary of R S Pura sustained injuries in cross border firing. “Two terrorists were seen moving suspiciously during night and again observed in the early hours close to IB behind thick sarkanda and undulating ground opposite Kanachak area,” the spokesman said.
He said that they were waiting to infiltrate or snipe at BSF personnel changing for duty in forward area. “BSF troops fired on detecting their suspicious movement to push them back and foiled an infiltration bid,” he said adding that Pak Rangers started shelling and firing which spread and affected 12-13 BOPs in Kanhachak and Paragwal sectors.
“There were specific inputs with BSF about the presence of terrorists in the area opposite Kanhachak sector and likely to make an attempt to infiltrate or cause casuality to BSF troops,” he asserted. (AGENCIES)
