Pak shells forward villages, BoPs along LoC in Rajouri; Indian Army retaliates

JAMMU: Pakistani Army yet again violated the ceasefire agreement on Wednesday by firing heavily along the Line of Control in Rajouri district of Jammu and Kashmir.

“At about 1030 hours, Pak continues its nefarious designs and third time in a day again initiated Unprovoked Ceasefire Violation by heavy Shelling with Artillery, and Firing of Small Arms along LoC in Nowshera and Sunderbani Sectors of District Rajouri,” defence spokesman here said.

He said that Indian Army is retaliating strongly and effectively to cross border firing.

Earlier Pakistan fired heavily in Krishna Ghati sector till 0430 hours.

On Tuesday evening Pakistan

continues with nefarious designs and at about 1800 hours, initiated unprovoked ceasefire violation by shelling with mortars and firing of Small Arms along LoC in Krishna Ghati sector of Poonch.

Earlier in the day on Tuesday, Pakistani Army violated the truce by firing unprovoked at around 1100 hours in Nowshera Sector of Rajouri.

On Monday, Pakistan violated ceasefire by firing along LoC in Akhnoor sector of Jammu.

On March 1, a nine-month-old child among three of a family were killed while two others were injured when Pakistani troops shelled forward posts and villages in Poonch district.

On Feb 28, a woman was killed while three others including an Army jawan were injured in cross border firing as Pakistan shelled forward Border Outposts in Poonch and Rajouri districts.

This is the sixteenth consecutive day that Pakistan has targeted forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC).

People living close to the border have been asked to stay indoors.

In 2018, highest number of 2,936 ceasefire violations was witnessed along the Indo-Pak border triggered by the Pakistan.
