Addressing a press conference here in the presence of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP president and Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda and Minister of Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari on completion of 11 years of Narendra Modi Government at the Centre, Vaishnaw said nobody would have thought that Article 370 (granting special status to erstwhile State of Jammu and Kashmir) can be abrogated but the Government did it.
“Prime Minister Narendra Modi has shown the resolve. Whether these are anti-terror strikes, Left-wing extremism and violence in North-East, sincere and effective steps have been taken to counter them and ensure that security of the country is not compromised,” the Union Minister said.
He said the surgical strikes, air strikes and now Operation Sindoor show India’s power which has been recognized the world over. “We attacked only terror infrastructure (in Pakistan). And we have done this by using the indigenous defence technology as well,” he added and said India is now a major defence exporter.
Vaishnaw said the red corridor is now limited to just few districts.
Referring to major decisions taken by Narendra Modi Government during last 11 years of governance, he said nobody earlier believed that Article 370 can be abrogated but the Modi Government did it.
Referring to his recent visit to Jammu during inauguration of train services to Katra and highest railway bridge over river Chenab by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Railways Minister said he asked a constable of Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) about the change after abrogation of Article 370 and he admitted that situation has changed for the better.
He said the people he met in Srinagar have been saying that they wanted the days prior to April 22.
“This is the change that has happened,” Vaishnaw said.

The Indian Armed Forces carried out Operation Sindoor from May 6-10 targeting terror infrastructure followed by military installations deep inside Pakistan and PoJK killing large number of terrorists and destroying terror camps, launch pads, headquarters etc.

These lists contain a roadmap of those weapons, arms and systems that India will not import in future. Five separate lists of over 4600 items for DPSUs have been notified. This boosts India strategically and at the same time, create jobs for youth,” the booklet read.
It said the FDI limit in defence has been raised to 74 percent through automatic route. In budget 2025-26, 75 percent of the capital procurement budget for defence is for domestic industry, Incentives for defence corridors will transform poor regions of UP into a powerhouse.
