Pak firing on LoC, forest fire triggers blasts

JAMMU, Feb 18: Pakistani troops violated the ceasefire and resorted to firing and shelling along the Line of Control (LoC) in two sectors of Poonch district today.
The firing and shelling by the Pakistani troops triggered a fear psychosis among the LoC residents in the wake of recent casualties and damage to a few houses, reports said.
The Pakistani troops resorted to small arms firing and shelling along the LoC in Shahpur and Kirni sectors for a brief period today, reports said, adding that there were no reports of any casualties.
The Indian troops retaliated the Pakistani firing very effectively causing damage on Pakistan side.
The residents of Shahpur, Balakote, Gulpur and Kirni, which have been targeted by Pakistani troops with heavy shelling, fear for their lives as they demand bunkers and putting an end to the shelling.
Meanwhile, a forest fire triggered several mine blasts along the LoC in Balakote sector of Mendhar tehsil in Poonch district.
The fire broke out in Balakote sector and spread to various areas, reports said.
As a result of the fire, several mines exploded, triggering panic among the residents.
The fire was brought under control by Army and forest personnel within a few hours.
