SRINAGAR, Nov 5: Maintaining that a new dawn has begun in the Jammu and Kashmir with the historical and revolutionary decision of Narendra Modi Government on August 5 this year to bifurcate the State of J&K into two Union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, BJP today said that the people of two UTs will now reap the fruits of democracy in real sense of which they have been deprived by the successive State Governments in the last over seven decades for their vested political interests.
Addressing a meeting of newly elected Block Development Council (BDC) members and other party activists from Kashmir Valley here at Tagore Hall today, BJP State president, Ravinder Raina said credit goes to Prime Minister, Narendra Modi Government of holding the BDC elections in the State to strengthen democracy at grass root level and frustrate the designs of those parties who were misleading the people and exploiting their sentiments on the name of autonomy, self rule etc to keep power confined to their own dynasties.
Blaming Pakistan and terrorists trained by it for destroying the future of Kashmiris, Rains said Prime Minister, Narendra Modi is committed to make the future of the people of J&K bright and prosperous.
Raina said this was the only reason that they did not allow democracy to peculate to grass root level and empower Panchayats so that the people of erstwhile State should remain at the mercy of these three or four dynasties who ruled it for last 70 years.
Raina said with these elections new leadership is emerging in the UTs of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh and there will be now total decentralization of power as basic institutes of democracy will get strengthened.
He said with the empowerment of Sarpanches and Panches the people will have not to be after MLAs and MPs for solution of their routine problems as they will be solved by local leaders at local level. Asking BDC members to work with honesty and dedication for public welfare Raina said that soon the district development Committee elections will be held in two UTs and this will ensure the constitution of three tier Panchayati Raj system the credit for which goes to Narendra Modi.
He said the corruption is a great evil facing the State which had rotten the administrative machinery during the previous Governments of NC and Congress. But now there will be a corruption free society and various steps are being taken in this regard. Moreover the children of the State would have not to go outside the State for professional training and higher education as all facilities will be available in the State, he added.
Addressing the gathering party general secretary Ashok Kaul lambasted those parties who misled people of the State for decades together about BJP for their cheap political interests. But now these elements have been totally exposed before the masses. He said BJP needs to work hard to win the hearts of the people irrespective of caste, creed colour, religion and region so that it will form the next Government on its own in both UTs.
BJP vice president and former MLC, Sofi Yousf in his address made a scathing attack on Congress saying the people of the State are reaping the fruits of its wrong policies right form 1947. Terming Narendra Modi’s decision historic, he said it led to total integration of State with rest of country.
He said people of India deserve congratulations for this bold decision and we welcome the entrepreneurs from across the country to invest in two UTs to boost the economy of the two UTs and people will welcome them with open arms. He said Pakistan which tried to destroy Kashmir by sending armed desperados is on the verge of fragmentation. He said socalled mainstream parties of Kashmir existence has eroded as they have been exposed before the masses and new political leadership is emerging in Valley now.
Party general secretary, Sunil Sharma also addressed the gathering. On the occasion 57 BDC members were honoured by party leadership and some prominent leaders also joined the party in the programme.
