JAMMU, Nov 10: In connection with the celebration of World Diabetes Day, falling on November 14, 2017, 17th Annual on Spot Painting cum Poster Competition was held at Kamala Palace, here today.
The Competition was organised by Janta Diabetes Care Centre, Talab Tillo and JKFAS.
The World Diabetes Day is celebrated to mark the birthday of Dr Feddrick Banting (Noble Prize Winner) who discovered Insulin in 1921, which has saved and changed life of millions of diabetics. Dr Raj Kumar Sharma, Senior Diabetologist, Jammu also a well known artist has been working relentlessly to make people aware about this disease and remove the myths about management of diabetes.
In connection with creating awareness about the disease the Painting Competition was held in which 20 prestigious schools of Jammu participated with more than 200 students putting their thoughts and concepts with the help of paint and brush on paper.
The Competition was held on “Changing Life Style-A cause of Diabetes”, “Less Calories of Optimum Weight-Lesser Diabetes”, “Fast Food Kills Fast-Live Better”, “Control Blood Sugar-Prevent Complications”, “Insulin-A Friend in Need”, “Know Your Disease-And Live Long”.
Dr Raj Kumar Sharma discussed about the various aspects in the management of the disease and said certain precautions and care can help in the management of diabetes and prevent long term complications.
Dr Sharma said the regular exercise and balanced diet along with life style modifications go a long way in controlling diabetes.
The Paintings were judged by eminent artists, Harshvardhan Sharma, Chanderprakash, Chander Sunder, Vijay Gupta and Sushil Dubey.
In Group A (Junior), Suhani of SD Tara Puri, Gandhi Nagar won first place, Nandini Paul of KC Public School won second spot, while the third place went to Vijay Kumar of DBN Vidya Mandir. Nitish Kumar Yatam of Shiksha Niketan and Vinit Kumar of APS Akhnoor won consolation prizes.
In Group B (Senior), Sujal of Shiksha Niketan HSS won first prize, Nitya Padha of St Xavier Convent School bagged second spot, while Amitoj Singh of Shiksha Niketan HSS claimed third place. The consolation prizes went to Janvi Gupta and Sanjana Sharma of May Fair HSS and APS Akhnoor respectively.
