JAMMU, Oct 6: Up in arms against delay in disbursement of Scheduled Tribe (ST) Scholarship, Pahari students held a protest demonstration outside the Jammu University main gate, here today.
Shouting slogans and carrying placards, they were demanding immediate release of the ST Scholarship and disbursement of the same to eligible students for their smooth studies.
They also accused the National Conference Government of incompetence in disbursement of the scholarship for no reasons and claimed that everything was moving smoothly during the LG administration. Click here to watch video
Talking to media persons on the occasion, the protesting students said that ever since the National Conference has come to power after the last year Assembly elections, problem in disbursement of ST scholarship is being faced.
“There was no such delay when LG administration was dealing with the disbursement of scholarship. However, ever since the installation of NC Government, scholarship is being delayed on one pretext or the other,” they said.
The protesting students also lambasted Pahari leaders for their silence over the issue and said that the Minister of Tribal Affairs, Javed Rana should resign as he has failed to deliver.
“The Government had announced that the scholarship would be released by first week of September and today is 6th October , but there has been no positive action over the same,” said the students and warned to intensify the protests if scholarship is not immediately released.
