LEH, Apr 8: A leading NGO in Union Territory Ladakh namely People’s Action Group for Inclusion and Rights (PAGIR) formed by specially-abled people has joined hands with All Ladakh Tour Operators Association (ALTOA) to produce 3000 washable masks to meet the growing demands and fight COVID-19 in Ladakh.
Some physically challenged members of PAGIR have been working in tailoring unit of PAGIR which prepares variety of useful products from tailoring waste collected from tailors shops in Leh.
Now this unit is preparing masks to meet the growing demands in UT Ladakh and ALTOA has provided them material to make 3000 masks at the initial stage. Expressing his delight to help the PAGIR members in this crisis, ALTOA President Tsetan Angchuk said that they were trying to contribute to help UT administration in this hour of crisis.
PAGIR President Tsewang Dorjay said that he felt immense happy to be able to contribute to the society which makes them feel inclusive society shouldering some responsibility.
Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya accompanied by Additional District Development Commissioner Moses Kunzang visited PAGIR today to encourage the tailoring unit and were highly impressed to see the specially-abled members of PAGIR preparing masks.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate Leh in an order issued today made it compulsory for all to wear masks in the Union Territory.
