JAMMU, Aug 1: International Centre for Cross-Cultural Research and Human Resource Management (ICccR & HRM) premises was inaugurated at University of Jammu on the occasion of induction ceremony of the 4th Batch of MBA: International Business (MBA-IB).
Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar was the chief guest, while as the ceremony was graced by Prof Deshbandhu Gupta, Dean, Faculty of Business Studies and Director CDC, Prof Keshav Sharma, Convener, Board of Studies in Management and Controller of Examinations, University of Jammu, Prof Pankaj Srivastava, Dean Students Welfare and RK Zafrani, Xen University Works Department.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar acknowledged the efforts of Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Founder Director, ICccR & HRM for developing the state of the art infrastructure to bring ICccR & HRM at par with the best B-Schools of the Country.
Prof Ishar reflected that the world has become a global market place which is not hampered by national boundaries. He hoped that the updated Choice Based Credit Curriculum for MBA-International Business Course would keep students informed about the current business trends and the latest developments in the international set-ups.
He said that MBA-International Business programme shall infuse in the students the capability to acknowledge cultural diversity, and appreciate the issues in international business negotiations.
Prof Neelu Rohmetra, Founder Director, ICccR & HRM, presented the overview of the activities, objectives and the academic programmes at International Centre. Prof Rohmetra also announced the launch of a Journal of Management and the Lecture Series under the title and theme as “Culture, Management and Leadership Connect”. She also announced the 4th International Conference on “Cross-Cultural Management: Practice and Research”, 2014-15.
Prof Deshbandhu Gupta and Prof Keshav Sharma motivated the students to be good time managers and make use of the facilities offered by the International Centre.
The function was attended by the Management faculty members of University of Jammu, corporate guests, alumni of MBA-IB programme, and the research scholars.
It is pertinent to mention that International Centre was established in the Year 2008, with a vision to “developing people with ultimate flexibility”. The objective of the Centre has been to promote education, research, training and consultancy in the area of Cross-Cultural Management/ International Management/ International Business and Human Resource Management.

LEH, Aug 1: Union Minister of State for Youth Affair and Sports, Sarvananda Sonowal inaugurated 6-days National Integration Camp organized by Nehru Yuva Kendra, Leh, Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, GoI at Sindhu Sanskriti Hall, here today.
Minister for Urban Development and Local Bodies J&K Nawang Rigzin Jora, Director Finance Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, Delhi S K Thakur, and Deputy Commissioner, Leh, Simrandeep Singh were also present on the occasion.
As many as 150 youth drawn from six States of Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand and Jammu and Kashmir are participating in the event.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sonowal said that the tough terrain of Ladakh was never a hurdle for the hard working people of this region and when given proper guidance the youth of this region will definitely work not only for the development of the region but for the nation as whole.
Citing the epithet ‘Unity in diversity’ as unique feature of India, Sonowal said that despite having different religions, languages, castes and creeds, the feeling of nationalism binds the countrymen.
Sonowal said that the youth need to act as ambassadors of brotherhood, fraternity, nationalism and unity.
Terming youths as the most vibrant and resourceful segment of country’s population, he said that they have to play a vital role in fostering and understanding the unity, integrity and socio-economic development.
Talking about various schemes for youths, he said that the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports is committed to work for the empowerment and development of the youth and to promote leadership and entrepreneural skills, the Government has proposed to set up various schemes to encourage the rural youths of the country.
Praising the works of Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan he said that this organization is working on various fronts of youth development with various youth related schemes and programmes.
While speaking on the occasion, Nawang Rigzin Jora said that despite Ladakh being a difficult and inhospitable area situated on the border it has evolved a different culture of patriotism and stands as a guard of the nation.
Strongly stressing on the communal harmony Jora said that like different culture and tradition of different parts of India, Ladakh has its own cultural identity and it is the need of the hour to conduct such camps in different parts of the country to recognize and understand these differences.
Deputy Commissioner Leh, Simrandeep Singh, Director NYKS Delhi S K Thakur and Zonal Director NYKS J&K Sukhdev Singh also spoke on the occasion.
A colourful cultural programme was also presented by the participating Kendras on the occasion.

No plan to change management of rural credit funds: Jaitley

NEW DELHI, Aug 1: Government has no plan to make any change in management of National Rural Credit (NRC) funds provided by the NABARD for undertaking agricultural activities and to rural non-farm sector.
Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said NABARD provides refinance to approved financial institutions out of the NRC (Long Term Operation) fund and NRC (Stabilisation) fund for undertaking agricultural activities.
He said Government has no proposal under consideration to make any change in the management of these funds.
Jaitley said the NRC fund (LTO) is utilised by NABARD only to provide financial assistance by way of loans and advances to commercial banks, regional rural banks and cooperative banks by way of refinance of their long term loans issued for agriculture, allied activities and rural non-farm sector.
“The amount of NRC (stabilisation) fund is utilised by the NABARD only to provide medium term loans to approved financial institutions by converting short term crop loans into medium term loans to enable farmers to obtain fresh loans in case of natural calamities such a drought, floods etc,” he said.
The Finance Minister said a new fund namely ‘Long Term Rural Credit Fund’ in NABARD with initial corpus of Rs 5,000 crore has been recently announced in the Union Budget for providing refinance support to cooperative banks, regional rural banks so as to boost capital formation in agriculture and rural economy.
“This fund will be met out of the shortfall in priority sector, agriculture sector, weaker section lending scheduled commercial banks,” he said. (PTI)

The party workers from Vijaypur Constituency attended the camp. The main objective of the camp was to boost the booth level workers morale to strengthen the ground level policies and programmes of BJP at door steps to aware impress the voters to cast the vote in favour of Bharatiya Janata Party.
Addressing to the workers Madan Mohan Mittal said that after accomplishing the Mission 272 by Prime Minister, Narenedra Modi now BJP is next task is Mission 44+ in Jammu and Kashmir. “Now we have the duty to achieve this Mission with the help of the voters and every worker has to go to every door step in Vijaypur Constituency and make people aware about the value of their vote and ask them to vote and support Bharatiya Janata Party.

JKLTF deputation meets School Education Secretary

JAMMU, Aug 1: A deputation of All Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation (JKLTF) led by Federation president, Bhushan S Verma and general secretary, Maheshwar Parsad today met Commissioner/ Secretary of School Education (SE) and put forth their demands.
The deputation while discussing the transfer policy with the Secretary strongly condemned the present scenario created by the authorities in transfer and adjustment in the department and demanded the Secretary to restore untimely, undue and premature transfers of the staff from the Directorate on the directions of vested interests, who is working for minting money.
They demanded the Secretary to immediately stop pick and choose policy in the adjustment of newly promoted Masters and Lecturers. They also demanded that transfers of lecturers be done on subject wise and single transfers be avoided.
The deputation members also demanded filling up of vacant posts from Joint Director to Class IV, release of salary bi-annually and increase in BEd seats.
The other demands highlighted by the deputation members include bringing back Masters working in far flung areas of Jammu to the home areas, timely supply of free books, periodical increments released to the employees from this month, earned leave to teachers on par with other teachers of other states like HP and Punjab and responsibility of Mid-Day meal be given to other agencies leaving teachers for teaching.

Unemployed dental surgeons continue chain hunger strike, dharna

JAMMU, Aug 1: Female dental surgeons under the banner of Dental Surgeons Association (DSA) continued their chain hunger strike for the 20th consecutive day, whereas the dharna by the association entered 32nd day today.
The unemployed dental surgeons assembled at Ambphalla Chowk and raised slogans against the Government for not redressing their demands including complete absorption of unemployed dental youth, recruitment of dental surgeons on yearly basis and establishment of separate directorate for dental health in the State.
Continuing the chain hunger strike, Dr Manju Bhardwaj was sitting on fast to carry forward the movement of the association.
While speaking, Chairman of the association Dr Pawan Singh Jasrotia said that the negligence of the Government has forced our female unemployed dentists to show the women empowerment in our State by sitting on chain hunger strike.
Dr Jasrotia added that for the past over one month, unemployed dental surgeons are protesting but the Government has failed in proper policy making and implementing the same in stipulated time period. There is no proper provision of dental health care policy in various State run schemes.
“We had taken up our demands with Health Minister Taj Mohi-ud-Din and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah but they failed to redress the same”, he added.
He also said that their agitation will not be called off till their demands are fulfilled by the Government.

JAMMU, Aug 1: Banyan International School hosted its first annual Inter-School Storytelling Competition for the children of Classes 1st and 2nd in School premises, here.
With 16 Schools participating in the event, 64 primary students were given the opportunity to showcase their narrative skills in English, presenting famous short stories like Goldilocks and The Hare and the Tortoise to their peers.
The confidence and skill exhibited by the children, dressed up as the characters they were portraying, was a heart-warming.
In a novel twist, all of the escort teachers were used as judges in the two round competition, allowing them to participate more actively as well.
From Class 1st, winner and runners-up were Punish from Jodhamal Public School and Anandi from Banyan International School respectively, and Aadhya of Jodhamal and Rinita of The First Step took the top two spots in the Class 2nd category.

DDC reviews physical, financial progress of ongoing MGNREGA works

SAMBA, Aug 1: District Development Commissioner, Samba, Mubarak Singh today convened a meeting of Activation and Empowerment of District Road Safety Committee Samba, in order to discuss the effective measures for collecting, comparing and analyzing road accidents data, provision of trauma and health care facilities to the victims of the road accidents and mitigate the road accident deaths and for better management of traffic within the district.
Different issues discussed during the meeting were organization of awareness programmes for educating the youths especially about the rules and regulations of traffic, repairing of roads near railway crossing Samba, Nanak Chak, filling of pits near Bhargava College etc.
He gave instructions to the ARTO, Police and, Traffic officials for regular monitoring of vehicles intended for proper implementation of traffic rules and regulations besides checking overloading and also to minimize the chances of road accidents besides instructing concerned officers for immediately repairing of roads and filling of pits.
Among others ADC Samba, Addl. SP Samba, ARTO Samba, EXn Eng. PWD ANDCIVSG-SO1 were also present on the occasion.
Later, DDC also reviewed the Physical and Financial progress of ongoing works of MGNREGA for the year 2014-15 (ending june2014).
The DDC issued directions to the officers of Rural Development Department to mobilize their field functionaries and speed up the pace of works so as to provide benefits to the rural poor as per the guidelines of the scheme and impressed upon the officers to given special attention for the conservation/development of traditional water bodies/pond as they are very important source of water for irrigation and other purposes in rural areas.
He also directed the officers that the works should be inspected vigorously and ensure completion of works strictly as per required quality specifications.

Sagar for early completion of Panchayat Ghars

SRINAGAR, Aug 1: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayats, Ali Mohammad Sagar has asked the officers to speed up the work on Panchayat Ghars so that they are completed within the shortest possible time thus augmenting the infrastructural assets of Panchayati Raj System.
The Minister was addressing officers during a review meeting convened to discuss the status of completion of Panachayat Ghars undertaken by the Rural Development Department.
Secretary Rural Development, Shafaat Noor Barlas, Director Rural Development Kashmir, Altaf Ahmed, Special Secretary Rural Development, Nisar Ahmed, Joint Director Planning, Mr. Azmat, ACDs, XEns and other officers of the Rural Development Department were also present in the meeting.
Mr. Sagar directed the officers to complete the left over Panchayat Ghars by September end so that they can be inaugurated and the respective Panchayats can carry on their routine work. He said that the funds have been placed at the disposal of the department and different wings should work in close coordination and in synergy to remove bottlenecks if any, and ensure early completion of these infrastructural assets.
Mr. Sagar asked the officers to ensure that these Panchayat Ghars are completed as early as possible so that the necessary infrastructural augmentation of the Panchayati Raj System is done and day to day working of Panchayats takes place without any hitch. He said that these would also serve as focal point in the panchayats wherein the Panchayati Raj representatives can carry out their working and also interact with the people of respective panchayats.
While referring to the Government’s initiative of empowering the PRIs in the State, the Minister said that the Government has ensured adequate empowerment of Panchayats by empowering them with the powers of 14 vital departments. He said that the Panchayati Raj representatives are also being involved in the implementation and formulation of various welfare programmes initiated by the Government.
The meeting was told that out of the 664 Panchayats Ghars taken for completion 218 have been completed in all respects and the work is apace on the remaining ones. It was also given out that an amount of Rs. 79.60 crore has been released for the completion of 1129 new Panchayat Ghars being constructed in the Kashmir division.

Draft national policy for tribal not finalised yet: Govt

NEW DELHI, Aug 1:
The Centre today said that a draft National Tribal Policy for the socio-economic development of tribals has not been finalised.
In his reply in Lok Sabha, Minister of Tribal Affairs Jual Oram said that the Ministry of Tribal Affairs had prepared a draft of “National Tribal Policy” for socio-economic development of tribals, which has not been finalised.
He also said that technical assistance from the UNDP is received for strengthening national capacities in tribal areas with focus on effective implementation and monitoring of Forest Rights Act, Tribal Sub-Plans.
The budget allocation for this project for the period 2013-2017 is 0.32 million dollars, he added.
Oram also said that the Ministry of Rural Development has initiated a new skill development initiative within the Aajeevika Skills (Placement Linked Skill Development Scheme) called Roshni for youth from 27 most critical Left Wing Extremist (LWE) affected districts, as part of developmental schemes that focuses on LWE affected areas.
