AMM demands revocation of New Pension Scheme, hike in SPOs’ honorarium
Excelsior Correspondent
SRINAGAR, June 14: Awami Mutahida Mahaz (AMM) has urged the government to revoke the New Pension Scheme and increase the honorarium of SPOs working in the police department.
Welcoming the Government initiative of giving service benefits of first five years of stipendiary service to the Rehber-e-Taleem (ReT) teachers and making it transferable, AMM leaders Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami, Hakim Mohammad Yasin, Abdul Rahsid Kabuli and Abdul Rehman Tukroo in a statement issued here appreciated the government decision.
“It was an overdue demand of the ReTs which have been met after hectic efforts put in by employees,” the leaders said.
The AMM leaders said that the government must scrap New Pension Scheme (NPS) which was implemented in Jammu and Kashmir from January 1, 2010 because not entitling the youth recruited in Jammu and Kashmir on or after January 1, 2010 to pensionary benefits, including pension, family pension and death-cum-retirement gratuity, under the NPS is sheer injustice with the employees who have been recruited after 2010.
The AMM leaders said that pension is a genuine right of an employee who serves the government for all his life.
“Now as the upper age limit for entry into the government job has also been increased to 40 years, it is right time that the government reverts back to the old pension policy. The way flawed new recruitment policy was scrapped, same way government should immediately announce scrapping of NPS,” the AMM leadership remarked.
They recalled services of Special Police Officers (SPOs) home guards and daily wagers but lamented that the government had let them down again. The AMM leaders pleaded the cause of SPOs, demanding their regularization and enhancement in their wages.
The AMM demanded release of 6th pay commission arrears in favour of urban local bodies, municipal corporation employees and regular payment of their salary, budgetary support and revival policy for public sector undertakings to generate employment.
INTUC leader projects issues of SRTC workers
Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 14: A delegation of Indian National Transport Workers Federation led by INTUC leader Amrik Singh Sasan met the Transport Minister Choudhary Ramzan and took up the issues of the SRTC workers.
During the meeting with the minister the INTUC vice president projected the issues of the SRTC workers. The members expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for enhancement of retirement age and observed that Corporation was doing better under the control of Ch Ramzan.
The members expressed that present system of recruitment in the SRTC does not provide any pension benefit. The SRTC workers should also be given such benefits. It was pointed out that SRTC workers are still getting 40 % DA while it has reached 100 % in case of other employees. They should be brought at par with others. Again, it was pointed out that upper limit of the payment of gratuity to the retiring workers has now increased to ten lakhs, but for the SRTC workers it is just Rs 2 and half lakhs. The Corporation workers are facing severe discrimination.
It is matter of concern that no DPC was held in the SRTC in last 12 years and the workers are suffering. The DPC in the Corporation be conducted on regular basis like other demands/ PSUs. Necessary infrastructure/ basic amenities be
provided at the workshops and in the tourist fleet. More trucks be purchased as trucks are generating more revenue than the busses.

SRINAGAR, June 14: Jammu and Kashmir High Court directed the authorities to constitute the Medical Board of All India Institute of Medical Sciences(AIIMS) for medical examination of Inspector General of Police CRPF, S S Sandhu, to find out whether the officer falls under the SHAPE-I category in accordance with guidelines or not.
“The Medical Board may be constituted expeditiously and intimation may be sent to the appellant for appearing before it and the reconvened Medical Board of AIIMS be placed before this court on or before adjourned date”, the Division Bench comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice MH Attar after ordered here.
The direction was passed by the court after Sandhu’s advocate RA Jan after obtaining the instructions from the appellant that he is willing to present himself before the Medical Board.
Court also said that the Board shall act in accordance with the observations made in order dated:-5.12.2012 where in it has been observed that whether Sandhu has disabilities of SHAPE-2 or as SHAPE-3.
Court while hearing the Letters Patent Appeal filed by Sandhu challenging the order of writ court wherein his writ petition was dismissed and his demotion order passed was found correct and genuine as he was not fulfilling the eligibilities for the post. However, the Division Bench while granting interim relief to Sandhu had directed the authorities to main status quo.
“A pristine question raised by appellant is whether he falls under SHAPE-I in accordance with guidelines or falls in a category lower than SHAPE-I. In the event he is found in SHAPE-I then he would be promoted as IG retrospectively from the date of such promotion given to him with all consequential benefits,” the bench observed.
Sindhu was promoted as IG CRPF by Home Ministry in September, 2012, but his promotion order was later withdrawn in April, 2013.
