INTUC leader projects issues of SRTC workers

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, June 14: A delegation of  Indian National Transport Workers Federation led by INTUC leader Amrik Singh Sasan  met the Transport Minister Choudhary Ramzan and took up the issues of the SRTC workers.
During the meeting with the minister the INTUC vice president projected the issues of the SRTC workers. The members expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for enhancement of retirement age and observed that Corporation was doing better under the control of Ch Ramzan.
The members expressed that present system of recruitment in the SRTC does not  provide any pension benefit. The SRTC workers should also be given such benefits. It was pointed out that SRTC workers are still getting 40 % DA while it has reached 100 %  in case of other employees. They should be brought at par with others.  Again, it was pointed out that  upper limit of the payment of gratuity to the retiring workers has now increased to ten lakhs, but for the SRTC workers it is just Rs 2 and  half lakhs.  The Corporation workers are facing severe discrimination.
It is matter of concern that no DPC was held in the SRTC in last 12 years and the workers are suffering. The DPC in the Corporation be conducted on regular basis like other demands/ PSUs. Necessary infrastructure/ basic amenities be
provided at the workshops and in the tourist fleet. More trucks be purchased as trucks are generating more revenue than the busses.
