KABUL, June 19:  Afghan officials say three Taliban suicide bombers targeted NATO fuel trucks at the border with Pakistan, setting off a gunbattle with police guards.
A spokesman for the border police in eastern Nangarhar province, Idris Momand, says the attack took place early today at the parking lot of the NATO outpost near the Torkham border crossing, a key supply route for the alliance.
Ahmad Zia Abdulzai, the spokesman for the provincial governor, says two of the attackers were killed by police while one blew himself up in the attack.
Abdulzai says 37 NATO fuel trucks were destroyed by explosions set off during the gunbattle.
Taliban spokesman Zabiullah Mujahid says his group was behind the attack.

Suzlon gets nod to start manufacturing for Rajasthan project

NEW DELHI, June 19:  Wind turbine maker Suzlon Energy has been given a go-ahead by the power generation firm CLP India to start manufacturing equipment for the latter’s project in Rajasthan.
“Suzlon today announced that it has received the Notice to Proceed (NTP) from CLP India for a 100.8 MW wind power project,” the company said in a statement.
The notice to proceed was given to Suzlon after CLP India received the approval from the Rajasthan government to commence work on the project.
The project, located at Tejuva in Rajasthan, will comprise 48 units of Suzlon’s 2.1 MW wind turbines, the statement said.
According to sources, the total value of the order is around Rs 750 crore and the equipment will be delivered to CLP India in the next 9-12 months.
“Upon completion, this project will boost CLP India’s wind power portfolio to close to 1,000 MW,” the statement added.
“With large reserves of untapped (wind energy) potential that spells out a great opportunity for this sector to grow exponentially. It has been a key area of thrust for us over the past 4-5 years and we are committed to growing it over the next few years as well,” Rajiv Mishra, Managing Director, CLP India, said.
“This contract is another milestone for our business in India. Through our comprehensive capabilities across wind energy value chain and end-to-end solutions, we will assist CLP India in further expanding their wind energy footprint in India,” Tulsi Tanti, Chairman, Suzlon Group, said.

Cipla partners with Hetero to launch biosimilar anaemia drug

NEW DELHI, June 19:  Pharma major Cipla today announced a collaboration with Hetero Drugs to launch a medication under the Actorise brand for treatment of anaemia caused due to chronic kidney disease.
“The collaboration stands as a multi-partner co- marketing deal which offers Cipla a license to make the drug accessible to a wide number of patients in India,” the company said in a statement.
Actorise is a biosimilar of ‘Darbepoetin alfa’, which is marketed by US-based Amgen under the brand Aranesp.
Cipla said Actorise is available in the pre-filled syringes (PFS) in the strengths of 25 mcg and 40 mcg priced at Rs 1,500 and Rs 2,200 respectively.
Commenting on the development, Cipla Chief Medical Officer Jaideep Gogtay said: “The launch of Darbepoetin alfa reinforces our strong commitment to expand the product pipeline in biosimilars and to increase product access in various therapeutic areas.”
The company anticipates more number of deals across therapy areas in the near future, he added.
“More than 1,00,000 patients each year need renal replacement therapy — dialysis and renal transplant. Most of these patients develop anaemia and will need drugs such as Darbepoetin alfa to maintain their hemoglobin and reduce the need for blood transfusions,” Gogtay said.
Darbepoetin alfa, a second generation erythropoietin maintains the hemoglobin levels for a longer period of time, and so the dose is only once a week, Cipla said.
Mumbai based Cipla’s portfolio includes 2,000 products in 65 therapeutic categories.

Sir,
The statement is self contradictory. He in the same breath accepts Kashmiri Pandits, part and parcel of Kashmir and his brethern and then comments it a deep rooted conspiracy to create separate zones for their safe and secure rehabilitation.
The fact remains Kashmiri Pandits disposed off their immovable property on throw away prices, all along since mass exodus of  the community in 1989-90. They have no interest in rehabilitation at their original places which they had to flee from, because of forced exodus. Then the KPs are patriots to the core and cannot freely express themselves in the present prevailing socio political scenario of Kashmir valley. The scattered rehabilitation is sure to endanger their lives.
Mr Geelani  never bothered  for the rehabilitation of his brethren (KPs) for the last twenty five years, when their condition was pitiable at different campuses and non campus. It is mere lip sympathy for public consumption that he calls KPs as his brothers.

Separate zones for KPs

Sir,
This takes reference to the news item ‘Separate zones for KPs oppossed by Geelani’ published in this paper.
There is an old saying that “Sanp ka dasa huva rasi se be darta hai”. This being the reason that KPs’ want a separate home land now, at the same time the majority populance in Kashmir have rejected the ideology of co-existance. However, if Geelani still opposes the concept of home land for KPs’ could he please reply the following a few questions:-
The Authority/Law which gives you the right to demand a separate State (Country).
Have you ever condemned the brutal killing of KPs’ during 23 years of turmoil whom you call your brothren now?
Who will guarantee the KPs’ their political/constitutional right?
The Houses sold at throw away prices during early migration, will these be made a null and void deals?
The encroached houses/farms/land will that be restored back?
The distroted historical names of localities/places,  reversed?
Yours etc..
