JAMMU, Nov 14 : Along with hundreds of Congressmen, Congress candidate from Jammu East Assembly constituency Vikram Malhotra  opened election office at Panjthirthi near Billo Mandir, here today.
On the occasion, Mr Malhotra said that his priority is to develop his constituency as model constituency.
He said that in the past  elected representatives of this constituency has done nothing for developing this area. Vikram said he has already done lot of developmental works in this constituency.
He is working actively in Jammu East constituency for the last four years and spent huge money for the development of all Wards of Jammu East constituency. He appeals the electorates of Jammu East to vote in his favour and give him a chance to serve  them better.
Those who were present on the occasion were Balbir Singh (Rinku), Raj Singh , Ram Sarup Sharma,Vinay and others.

United Blues, Rehari Club and Country Academy script emphatic wins

JAMMU, Nov 14:   United Blues, Rehari Club and Country Cricket Academy registered emphatic wins in the ongoing 3rd Eid-Diwali Milan T20 Cricket Cup, played at Gulshan Ground, here today.
S R Mishra AIG-CIV, PHQ was the chief guest in today’s proceedings who was introduced with the teams and the match officials on the occasion. He wished the teams best of luck.
The Tournament is being organized under the overall supervision of Shakeel Beig DIG Jammu and jointly organized by J&K Police, Simula Software and Atman College. Rajesh Gill, former Ranji Trophy player is the organinsing secretary.
In the first match today, United Blues defeated RCC Srinagar by 6 wickets. Batting first, RCC scored 149 runs in the allotted 18 overs for loss of 6 wickets. Rahul Mussa top scored with 75 runs, while Kuldeep contributed 16 runs and Happy chipped in with 14 runs. Abdul Majid bagged 2 wickets, while Danish, Taju and Rayees shared 1 wicket each.
United Blues XI, in reply chased the target in 17 overs for the loss of 4 wicket. Habib, Rayees and Ahmer contributed 53, 41 and 34 runs respetively. Rohit, Sahil and Kuldeep shared 1 wicket each. Rayees was decalared man of the match for his all-round performance.
In the second match, Rehari  Club scripted a comfortable win against  Tanishta Cricket Club. Batting first Tanishta Club made 179 runs in the allotted 18 overs for 4 wickets with Sidharth Magotra (81), Deepak (41) and Hunny (19) runs being the main scorers for Tanishta team. Parveen took 2 wickets, while Raman Dutta and Rohit shared 1 wicket each.
In reply, Rehari Club achieved the target in 17 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Manish Dogra made 68 runs, Sahil Bhalwal 43 and Shahzad 34 runs. Deepak and Vishal took 2 wickets each and Sanjay took 1 wicket. Manish Dogra was declared man of the match.
Another match played between Atman Sports XI and Country Cricket Academy. Batting first, Atman Cricket Club scored 149 runs in the allotted 18 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Manpreet 54, Abhay 36 and  Vicky 14 were the main scorers for Atman. Yogesh took 4 wickets, Sant Baksh took 2 and Harjeet one wicket.
In reply, Country Cricket Academy achieved the target in 15 overs, without losing any wicket. Openers Rakesh Sehwag and Yogesh Sikka made an unbeaten partnership of 150 runs, with Rakesh slamming cracking ton (101*) and Sikka contributing valuable 41 runs. Rakesh was declared man of the match.

Govt’s initiatives provide good opportunity for investors:Prez

NEW DELHI, Nov 14:
Stating the policy initiatives unveiled by the Modi government have made India a preferred destination for FDI, President Pranab Mukherjee today said these present an excellent opportunity for domestic as well as overseas players to invest in the country.
“A spate of measures aimed at reviving the economy have shown the green shoots are already visible and in the first quarter of the current financial year our GDP has registered a growth of 5.7 per cent. India is already a preferred destination for foreign direct investment,” Mukherjee said at the inauguration of the India International Trade Fair (IITF).
Elaborating further, the President said: “In the recent policy framework, there has been substantial improvement in the conditions of direct foreign investment. In the railway infrastructure the (FDI) ceiling is 100 per cent, in the defence production it is 49 per cent and in the insurance sector it is 49 per cent”.
“These policy measures initiated by the current government and Prime Minister’s call for Make in India provide an excellent opportunity for the prospective investors from within the domestic area and outside,” he said.
Over 6,500 companies and 25 foreign countries are taking part in the IITF 2014, which opened here today.
The theme of the fair this year is ‘Women Entrepreneurs’ aimed at helping organisations integrate women welfare programmes in different parts of the country.
Commerce & Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman, who was also present on the occasion, said: “Trade events such as the IITF boost business and open avenues for investment, joint ventures and collaborations, improving economic growth by providing access to potential markets”.
South Africa is the Partner Country of the IITF 2014, while Thailand is the Focus Country. The first five days of the fair from November 14-18 are restricted to business visitors. It will be open for general public during November 19-27. (PTI)

NC leaders project development works taken up in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, Nov14: National Conference has said that Srinagar was at the heart of NC’s mission of development and prosperity and that the party had delivered on its promises with the people of Srinagar in a historic tenure of good-governance that saw unprecedented growth in public infrastructure and in the development of essential services facilities in the city.
NC legislators and candidates from Srinagar – MLA and candidate for Eidgah Mubarak Gul, MLA and Candidate for Amira Kadal Nasir Aslam Wani, MLA and candidate for Batamaloo Irfan Shah, MLA and Candidate for Zadibal Peer Mohammad Afaq, MLA and candidate for Habba Kadal Shameema Firdous, candidate for Hazratbal Constituency Mohammad Sayed Akhoon held a meeting at NC Headquarters in Srinagar today. The meeting was presided over by NC general secretary, MLA and candidate from Khanyar Constiency, Ali Mohammad Sagar.
Mr Sagar said that National Conference had ushered Srinagar into a new era of growth and development in the last six years and had reformed the system of governance to empower the common man. Giving a list of NC’s work in Srinagar in the last six years, Sagar said that it was the Omar Abdullah Government that invested in major road projects in Srinagar like the Meerakh Shah Road, the Zadibal to Pandech Road, the Qamarwari to Narbal Road, the widespread four-laning and widening of roads across the city besides renovating the historic Zaina Kadal, Zero bridge and Habba Kadal bridges. “We started the strategic Jehangir Chowk to Natipora Flyover project at an estimated cost of Rs 300 crores while also starting work on the Barbarshah to Rajbagh, Dalgate and Padrethan bridges. Dozens of community halls were completed and dedicated to the public in every nook and corner of Srinagar while dozens more are about to be completed. The Omar Abdullah Government also started extensions and upgradation on the Rangil Water Supply Scheme while upgrading water treatment plants and delivery systems all across the city”, the NC general secretary said.
“The Omar Abdullah Government also delivered unprecedented focus and initiatives in the development of stadia, sports infrastructure and parks in Srinagar and some prominent examples are the Radpora, Zindshah Stadiums, the Astro-turf ground at Polo View, the upgradation of Indoor Stadium, the Joggers Park at Rajbagh besides various playgrounds around the city for our youth. Tagore Hall was upgraded to State of the Art status with an expenditure of hundreds of crores as well. Besides two modern, mega shopping complexes worth hundreds of crores were constructed at Jehangir Chowk and Rambagh”, Sagar said.
NC leader said that historic initiatives were taken in the field of Health Care in Srinagar as the Bone and Joint Hospital, the SMHS Hospital and the Lala Ded Hospitals were upgraded to state-of-the-art status with new facilities and added capacity. “Dozens of new health facilities in the shape of new Sub-District Hospitals, CHCs and PHCs were added all around Srinagar and the Lala Ded Hospital was upgraded with an addition of a new 200 bed block under the personal supervision of the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah. Work was started on the 200 Bed Childrens’ Hospital in Diwan Bagh and the 250 Bed Maternity Hospital there”, Sagar said.

JAMMU, Nov 14: District Congress Committee Jammu (Urban) president, Anil Chopra today inaugurated central election office of Congress party candidate from Jammu West Surinder Singh Shingari at Bakshi Nagar here today.
A large number of party workers and supporters of  Shingari were present on the occasion. Mr Chopra, general secretary Kanta Bhan and other speakers while addressing gathering appreciated the efforts of Shangari for his contribution in the area and appealed the people to support Congress candidate for  better development.
Mr Chopra said that Congress led UPA Government at the Centre has ensured massive development in the State and  only Congress has the capacity to keep all the three regions united and maintain communal harmony. He said that people should remain vigilant against the divisive forces and support Congress Party in elections.  Mr Chopra said that Shingari is young and dynamic candidate and he has capacity to serve the people in better way. He appealed the people to ensure the victory of  Mr Shingari from Jammu West.

Jamwal spells out priorities to transform Jammu West

JAMMU, Nov 14: National Conference candidate for Jammu West Dharamvir Singh Jamwal spelled out his priorities to transform the constituency as a model of development with thrust on civic and public utility services.
“Jammu West forms core of the capital city which has emerged as a most thronged destination in North India and this needs to be a model of development and aesthetic grandeur”, Mr Jamwal said while interacting with different segments of society across the constituency here today.
He said the constituency needs holistic development in the key sectors of public health engineering, power, urban development and roads and buildings. He said the constituency unfolds a big  challenge as far as the huge population is concerned and expressed his optimism to meet these with the active cooperation of the people. He said Jammu as a whole deserves to be transformed as most vibrant city in the country keeping in view the influx of pilgrims and tourists.
Mr Jamwal said that Omar led Government has taken several path breaking initiatives during the past six years which are needed to be carried forward with same vigour. “For this Jammu and Kashmir needs a strong and stable Government which National Conference alone can provide”, he maintained.
The NC candidate enumerated the achievements registered by the Omar led Government and said these have transformed the developmental profile of the state. He said the people’s support will empower the National Conference to carry forward its odyssey towards development and progress with a renewed vigour.
“Your vote to National Conference will be support to the progress and development of the State besides cementing further unity between various segments of society”, Mr Jamwal maintained.

SVC books XEn of I&FC

SRINAGAR, Nov 14: The State Vigilance Commission has booked Executive Engineer, Irrigation and Flood Control Department, Division Handwara for drawing bills against unexecuted and inferior quality works.
Acting on a complaint, lodged by one Mohd Jamal Lone of Pushwari Kupwara, verification was carried out of Flood Control works in Handwara Division, financed by NABARD. The works were checked in association with experts of Vigilance Organization Kashmir. It was revealed that out of an estimated cost of Rs 10 crores, Rs 7 crores expenditure had been made.
Verification revealed that Rs 1.24 crores were shown billed for cunnette cutting but on spot, no such evidence of carrying out of this work was available. Besides, many other works, which were reportedly carried out, have been shown on records to have been damaged only after a gap of four months. The verification further revealed that officers of I&FC, Division Handwara in conspiracy with beneficiary contractor have caused huge loss to the state exchequer by drawing bills against unexecuted and inferior quality works.
On the basis of the above revelation, case FIR number  36/2014 has been registered in Police Station VOK and investigation taken-up.

2 booked on rape charge

RAJOURI, Nov 14: The police has registered a case against two persons for committing rape on a woman hailing from Tarala- Charhan area under Rajouri police jurisdiction today.
The police on the complaint of a young woman has registered a case FIR No. 593/ 2014 under Sections 376/ 109 RPC against Mohd Mushtaq, son of Mohd Nazir  and Hakim Din, son of Noor Mohd hailing from the same area. The woman alleged that Mushtaq was exploiting her on the pretext that he would marry her but he was now avoiding her. She has become pregnant and was unable to face the society, she said. The police registered a case and started investigation.

Prez inaugurates 34th IITF, 2014

NEW DELHI, Nov 14:
President Pranab Mukherjee today inaugurated the fortnight-long 34th India International Trade Fair, 2014 in the national capital.
One of the most awaited B2B and B2C events in Asia, the IITF was inaugurated at the Pragati Maidan.     Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s global investment mantra  ‘Make in India’ will be in focus at the fair.    All Centre or states pavilions have been given a new look  as per the theme of ‘Women Entrepreneurs.’      The gala trade fair also coincides with the Children’s Day, celebrated on the birth anniversary of India’s first Prime Minister Pt Jawaharlal Nehru.
The IITF, ever since it started in 1980, has evolved as a  major event for the business community.     November 14-18 are earmarked for business visitors only while it will be opened for public from November 19. The fair will conclude on November 27.
It is organised by the India Trade Promotion Organisation.
The Narendra Modi government’s cleanliness drive ‘Swachh  Bharat’ mission among other social issues will also be in  focus at the fair, an ITPO official said.     This year, South Africa has been accorded the ‘Partner  Country’ status.
Thailand is the ‘Focus Country’ and Delhi is ‘Focus State.’    The fair that provides a reliable and tested platform to small medium enterprises exporters, entrepreneurs and investors, holds tremendous significance for the business community which have a crucial role in sustainable, inclusive, job-led growth and development.
Various agencies have geared up to facilitate the different activities, pertaining to convenience and safety and security  for a large number of participants and visitors from India and overseas.
Over 6,000 exhibitors from India and abroad are taking part in the fair.
Added attractions are the state day celebrations, music and dance programmes of classical and semi classical genre, geet, gazal, qawaali, street plays and puppet shows.    The fair will remain open to visitors from 0930 hrs to 1930 hrs, on all days.
