JAMMU, Nov 27: Former legislator and Congress candidate from Kalakote Assembly Constituency, Ashok Sharma, said that there is urgent need for devising a comprehensive employment policy in Jammu and Kashmir, so that all the educated and other unemployed youths get job within a fixed time framed.
Addressing youth rally at Dhangri in Kalakote Constituency, Sharma said that he would work for ensuring that all the vacant posts in various Government departments and corporations will be advertized in one go and filled-up by the recruiting agencies within a period of 3 months besides thousands of posts shall also be created for the new administrative units setup in the State, so that maximum number of unemployed youths get employment.
The remaining unemployed youths will be provided unemployment allowance as per their qualifications till they are permanently provided job.
He added that likewise, the other unemployed youths of the constituency will be provided training in different skills and provided financial support and marketing facilities, so that they earn their livelihood.
Referring to the need for promotion of computer education in tune with job market requirement, all the students of 11th and 12th classes in Kalakote constituency will be provided Laptops while as all the high and higher secondary schools in the constituency will be equipped with computer labs with internet facility to impart modern education.
A large number of youths joined Congress party on this occasion and extended their whole heartedly support to Sharma to ensure his victory in the Assembly elections from Kalakote Constituency with a huge margin.

PURMANDAL, Nov 27: J&K Grameen Bank (JKGB) under the chairmanship of Vagish Chander Sharma in collaboration with NABARD organized Awareness cum Financial Literacy Camp at financial inclusion village Sangar, under base branch Purmandal (District-Samba).
Surinder Singh, DDM NABARD who was the chief guest on the occasion inaugurated the awareness programme in an impressive function and highlighted the benefits of Farmer Clubs, Self Help Groups (SHGs), Joint liability Groups (JLGs) and various other NABARD’s Programmes to uplift the rural masses in general and specially those who are excluded from the ambit of financial services.
K L Sharma, Area Manager, Samba/Kathua (JKGB) highlighted the initiatives taken by the bank for credit outflow in diversified activities like KCC/GCC for the purpose of setting up economic units for augmenting the income of the families and in turn overall development of the rural people through institutional credit.
He apprised the large gathering of people in detail about the Prime Minister’s Scheme “Jan Dhan Yojana”.
An amount of Rs 12.00 lakh was disbursed on spot to 30 beneficiaries (including 8 Self Help Groups) in the shape of KCC/GCC etc. 106 accounts were opened under Prime Ministers scheme “Jan Dhan Yojana” during the Camp.
Rakesh Dubey, Block Development Officer, (BDO), Purmandal and Sudesh Gupta, Principal Higher Secondary School, Purmandal (District Samba) also spoke on the occasion.
Panchs, Sarpanchs and prominent citizens of the area were also present on the occasion and welcomed the initiatives of the bank for imparting financial literacy cum awareness among the rural masses.

JAMMU, Nov 27: Former Minister and Congress candidate from Bishnah constituency, Gulchain Singh Charak today said that Congress Party is committed for the development of all the three regions of the State.
Addressing series of public meetings in Bishnah segment today, Mr Charak said that he was committed for the over all development of this constituency. He said as Minister also he initiated many development works in the area and he would continue his struggle to improve developmental activities vigorously. If people voted him to power he will double the pace of work in the area, Charak maintained.
Congress workers participated in these meetings in large number and raised local issues. They urged Mr Charak to attend their problems at the earliest since deaf ear is being given to their demands. While addressing people at Chumbian Jattan, he said that policies and programmes of the Congress party are development oriented and transparent. He stressed that secular credentials of the Congress party cannot be ignored.
Mr Charak underlined that relief and rehabilitation of the people in distress is to be taken up on priority. He endorsed his commitment to strive hard for an overall development of the Bishnah constituency which he has been doing since long. He cherished that at this stage people should come up to convey a message of unity and political maturity by defeating all designs. He cautioned the people not to fall in the trap of those who failed to deliver.
While condemning firing by Pakistani troops and militants’ attack in Arnia area today, Mr Charak said that Pakistan and its agency ISI have been frustrated with the high poll percentage during first phase in the State. They have pushed militants to disturb the elections. The acts of Pakistan should be condemned in the strongest words, Mr Charak maintained.

R S Pura, Nov 27: Former Minister and Congress party candidate from Suchetgarh, R S Chib condemned the firing incident and militants, attack in Arnia sector in which innocent civilians and Army jawans lost their lives.
While conducting door to door campaign and addressing a series of corner meetings at Sai Kalla, Fajla, Changali and many other villages Chib attacked Pakistan for such cowardly acts. He also rapped the BJP led Central Govt for failing in protecting the borders. He said that BJP is in habit of taking credit for all the good things happening in India and turns its face to the untoward incidents. He said that border inhabitants either on IB or on LoC are living under fear and stray incidents of firing are still continuing making life of people difficult and miserable. Mr. Chib said that Central Govt should accept its responsibility and protect the borders.
Former Minsiter said that the misdeeds of the previous representatives of the constituency have left numerous problems. He said that Sai has been neglected in development by the loacal MLA. The plight of the redidents of this border area can be felt by seeing the pity condition of the roads. NAGROTA Nov 27: Declaring development of Nagrota as core of his agenda for next six years, Provincial President and National Conference candidate Mr Devender Singh Rana today said a modest beginning towards transforming the constituency as Nava Jammu has been made which will be taken to its logical end with support of the people.
He spelled out salient features of his vision about the constituency and said the people of the area have been very responsive and cooperative, irrespective of their affiliations, to accomplish this mission.
During his interaction with electors at various places in Panchayat Jandyal Upper and Dhanu, Mr Rana politics can always wait when it comes to ensuring basic utility services and laying a sound edifice of development of a particular area. “In this case, it is developing Nagrota as a satellite township, given its potential and closeness to the winter capital”, he maintained.

Giving graphic description about the strategic location of Nagrota, Mr Rana said a state of art cancer institute is ready for opening by the Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board in close vicinity apart from a mega university functioning for years. These are bound to generate 24X7-activity, which will prove immensely beneficial for economy of the area, he said, hoping beginning of a new era for the constituency.
“Being gateway to the world famous landmarks of Jammu and Kashmir and situated on the National Highway, this constituency should have been a real model of development and prosperity but it has not happened so far”, he said, adding that efforts will have to be redoubled to transform the profile of the area as per needs of the time. He said modest beginnings have been made in different sectors and the day is not far when this beautiful constituency will attain envious position in the developmental profile of the State.
He gave an overview of developmental activities initiated in recent years and said the constituency has substantially benefited by various welfare schemes. “The tempo of development will get further fillip in the ensuing years and every effort will be made to satiate the aspirations of the people of all the areas”, he maintained.
Mr Rana said the Omar led government has embarked upon a big mission of giving developmental push to each area of the State, as per requirements and potential of the area, and hoped that Nagrota too will get focused attention when National Conference will form a strong and stable Government after the ongoing elections. Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan paid tribute to poet father Harivansh Rai Bachchan on his 107th anniversary today, calling him a unique genius.
The 72-year-old actor took to his blog to share about his father’s literary journey.
“A unique genius… A man of immense letters, words, thoughts and several unknown deeds. Born and brought up in extreme poverty… Earning his living with Rs 20 per month, and then creating some of the most extraordinary writings in literary India.
“Hundreds and hundreds of poems, around 70+ books, in Hindi, yet taught English Literature at the Allahabad University. Served in the All India Radio, and then in the Ministry of External Affairs as Officer on Special duty, nominated member to the Rajya Sabha, the Upper House or House of Lords in British Parliament,” Bachchan posted on the blog.
The evergreen star said during the later years of his life, Harivansh Rai became a “collector of ‘object d rocks’, rocks that he found imagery in, bringing them home and with the stroke of a paint brush, bringing it to life.”
Bachchan added that his father replied to each letter written to him by his admirers.
“A prolific writer of letters. If you wrote to him he would reply personally to each, a postcard with a line of response no matter who and where, about hundred cards each day and then walking across to the nearest post box to post them himself,” he recalled. (PTI)
JAMMU, Nov 27: A man, who got injured after falling from a train, succumbed to his injuries at Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) here today.
As per police sources, a man identified as Dileep Mandla, a resident of Bihar, at present Phylian Mandial, got seriously injured due to fall from the general compartment of Archana Express at Railway Station Jammu few days back
He was rushed to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), where he failed to respond to the treatment and breathed his last.
The body has been handed over to family members for last rites after conducting postmortem.
Police has taken cognizance in this regard.

JAMMU, Nov 27: Union Minister for Petroleum Dharmendra Pradhan among prominent political figures from different parties, paid rich tributes to former Minister and Congressman Girdhari Lal Dogra on his 27th death anniversary, here today.
A programme in this connection was organized by Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Trust at Dogra Chowk Jammu.
Paying tributes, the speakers recalled the great contribution of Late G L Dogra to the State as then Finance Minister and his social services for upliftment of poor and downtrodden. They stressed that best tribute to Late Dogra is to follow the great leader’s honesty, integrity, simplicity and dedication towards work for common masses.
Speaking on the occasion, Dharmendra Pradhan, who was chief guest on the occasion, described the services of late Girdhari Lal Dogra for Jammu people at par with Praja Parishad founder Pt Prem Nath Dogra. He stressed the need to follow the path shown by such legendary leaders in serving their people.
Sangita Jaitley, daughter of late G L Dogra and wife of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, presided over the function.
The Minister for Housing and Culture Raman Bhalla, National Conference provincial president Devender Rana, BJP leader Kavinder Gupta, former Minister and NCP president Thakur Randhir Singh, Mohinder Pandey and others also spoke about the qualities, which made late Dogra a leader of masses, irrespective of political affiliation.

JAMMU, Nov 27: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) candidate from Jammu East constituency Shokat Gujjar has intensified the election campaign.
BSP candidates conducted door-to-door campaign in Peerkho, Dalpatian, Rajiv Nagar and Kanji House areas of the Jammu East constituency.
While interacting with locals, Shokat Gujjar listened to the problems being faced by the people and assured redressal to all their issues, if voted to power.
He added that BSP will provide five marla plot to the family living in the city and facing problem for construction of additional rooms. He also assured business plan especially for the khamarah biradari.
