JAMMU, Nov 27: Union Minister for Petroleum Dharmendra Pradhan among prominent political figures from different parties, paid rich tributes to former Minister and Congressman Girdhari Lal Dogra on his 27th death anniversary, here today.
A programme in this connection was organized by Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Trust at Dogra Chowk Jammu.
Paying tributes, the speakers recalled the great contribution of Late G L Dogra to the State as then Finance Minister and his social services for upliftment of poor and downtrodden. They stressed that best tribute to Late Dogra is to follow the great leader’s honesty, integrity, simplicity and dedication towards work for common masses.
Speaking on the occasion, Dharmendra Pradhan, who was chief guest on the occasion, described the services of late Girdhari Lal Dogra for Jammu people at par with Praja Parishad founder Pt Prem Nath Dogra. He stressed the need to follow the path shown by such legendary leaders in serving their people.
Sangita Jaitley, daughter of late G L Dogra and wife of Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, presided over the function.
The Minister for Housing and Culture Raman Bhalla, National Conference provincial president Devender Rana, BJP leader Kavinder Gupta, former Minister and NCP president Thakur Randhir Singh, Mohinder Pandey and others also spoke about the qualities, which made late Dogra a leader of masses, irrespective of political affiliation.
Raman Bhalla said that late Dogra worked for the welfare of poor and weaker sections of the society and served the State in various capacities while Devender Rana particularly mentioned about the simplicity of late Dogra for whom service to people was his worship.
Former Minister and NCP president Thakur Randhir Singh NCP President J&K State paid rich tributes to Late G L Dogra whose 27th death anniversary was performed by Girdhari Lal Dogra Memorial Trust today at Jammu.
Former Minister Thakur Randhir Singh, who has served with Girdhari al Dogra for 20 years as a youngest MLA and Minister, said that the best tributes to people like Girdhari Lal Dogra and many others, who have set the example of honesty, integrity, simplicity and hard work for the people, would be establishment of their memorials throughout the State.
Meanwhile, Pradesh Congress Committee also paid rich tributes to Girdhari Lal Dogra by organizing a function at PCC headquarters, Shaheedi Chowk, Jammu.
A number of Congressmen participated in the tribute paying function, which was presided over by Thakur Hari Singh, PCC vice president.
PCC leaders said that best tributes to late Dogra would be to strengthen the Congress at the grass root level for which he dedicated his whole life. They also described late Dogra as a true Gandhian having staunch belief in secularism, socialism and democracy. He played a vital and important role to bring railway line in Jammu and its further extension throughout the State, they added.
