JAMMU, Nov 23: Renowned poetess of Dogri, Padamshree Padma Sachdev, today delivered a special lecture at Jammu University Academic Staff College to the participants of the ongoing UGC Course.
On the occasion, she was felicitated by Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, for her contribution to the language of Dogri.
In his address, VC described the renowned Dogri Poetess as a ‘living legend’ and highlighted her immense contribution for the propagation and promotion of Dogri.
He appreciated the quality work done by the Academic Staff College and hoped that ASC would contribute to invite experts of emminence to deliver lectures in their various UGC sponsored courses.
Earlier, Padma Sachdeva in her address traced the very genesis of Dogri folk and poetry writing.
She also recalled the great contributions of Dogri Stalwarts like Madhukar, Dinu Bhai Pant, Pt Ramnath Shastri, Tara Smailpuri and others for their tireless efforts in getting Dogri its due.
The poetess also narrated anecdote from her personal life during the course of lecture.
Terming her as a greatest ambassador of Dogri language, Prof Kesar also briefly touched upon her various literary works and publications and awards with which she has been bestowed in India and abroad.
Ranjeet Kalra, Assistant Director, ASC, presented vote of thanks while proceedings of the function were conducted by Dr Sanjana Koul.
