SRINAGAR, Oct 7: The PM package employees working in various parts of Kashmir valley are totally scared following the selective killings of members of minority community in the Valley since last two weeks by the terrorists of The Resistance Force (TRF).
The employees putting up in migrant transit accommodations at Vessu and Mattan in Anantnag district, Hall in Pulwama district, Sheikhpora in Budgam district, Veerwan in Baramulla district, Tulmulla in Ganderbal district and Nuthansa in Kupwara district are totally terrified and in panic saying they are living under the fear of gun.
Talking to this correspondent, some employees from Vessu, Sheikhpora and Hall transit camps said that they were asked by the authorities to remain inside the camps and not involve themselves in any risk by venturing outside in view of the increasing attacks on the minorities and selective killings by the militants.
They said, the police teams led by senior officers of the rank of DySPs visited all the transit camps to take the stock of the situation and advised the employees and their families not to venture outside in view of the militant attacks. The authorities have also increased the security in the camps.
The fear psychosis has gripped the transit camps to such an extent that no human being was seen venturing in the transit camp Sheikhpora after 4 pm today when usually there used to be a lot of hustle bustle and the employees were seen strolling in the camp compound and taking evening walk.
These employees said that how long they can stay inside the camp as this is not practicable humanly and the Government should find out a suitable solution to their problem. “We have to go outside, attend the duties and what sort of security we will get there” asked one of the employees.
He said they are on receiving end. “From one hand we face total neglect by the Government as we have been even denied the promotions and on the other we have now become safe target of militants,” he added.
He said the employees have decided to leave for Jammu as the situation is totally horrible in Kashmir and they can’t put up in concentrated camps for days together. “We are shocked as our two colleagues were killed today by militants for no fault of theirs and this is totally horrifying, said a migrant employee, adding “We have lost all faith and trust over the system and society in Kashmir”.
Some of the employees said that under the prevailing circumstances can’t live in Kashmir and they are trying to leave for Jammu till Government ensures fool-proof security to them and their families.
Meanwhile, the tempers of minority Sikh community also ran high in Srinagar who asked their community men to boycott the duties till they get a guarantee from the Government. They said killing of a woman is totally barbaric and inhuman as no religion teaches to attack women.
Condemning the killing, the protesting members of Sikh community said militants have no religion and warned that they will not allow the cremation of the Principal till there comes an assurance from Government regarding safety and security of the community in Kashmir. They demanded that the majority should come forward and support their demands. People are scared and they can’t live in Kashmir under such circumstances, said a Sikh community member.
He said without the assurance and confidence of majority community they can’t live in Kashmir in future. This is unfortunate that militants killed the poor employees who were not associated with any organization but were mere teachers doing their duty.
Meanwhile, six migrant teachers putting up at Tulmulla transit camp in Ganderbal district have demanded security from Government saying they were feeling threat to their lives. In a letter to the Zonal Education Officer, Tulmulla they said that they should be provided security in view of the killing of two teachers in Srinagar today.
However, the ZEO issued an order asking these employees to stay inside the Tulmulla camp and not to attend their duties till further orders.
