JAMMU, Nov 18: The dharna launched by 45 Kashmiri Pandit unemployed youth who have been selected under PM’s Employment package three years back but were deprived of the appointment letters till date entered 48th day near Press Club here, today.
The protesting candidates are demanding immediate issuance of orders and they accused the authorities of adopting delaying tactics which they said has led to the desperation of the candidates. They said despite the directives from Court of Law the Government failed to issue appointment orders in their favour forcing them to resort to agitation. The protesting candidates said that majority of them has now become over aged and are not in a position to apply for fresh recruitment. Moreover, when they have already been selected by the Government why their orders have been delayed for years together which has led to their and their families mental agony.
They said that on one side now the Government is floating a surrender and Rehabilitation process for militants and on the other the peace-loving youth are being ignored. They said that no one from Government bothered to meet them during last 48 days of their strike which shows the callousness of administration towards these hapless youth.
“This laxity on the part of Government to consider our demand is a conspiracy against us and authorities this way were forcing us to take extreme steps’’, said one of the protestors.
He said many times we tried to move towards Civil Secretariat but police foiled it. He said Secretary Relief and Disaster Management Simrandeep Singh had promised them that Government will take the decision after the Darbar move but to no avail. The protesting candidates have reiterated their appeal to Lt Governor, Manoj Sinha and advisors to Governor as well as Chief Secretary to look into their problems and settle their issue as they and as well as their families are in mental agony and desperation.
