Sir,
In the recent past, a number of road accidents have arisen at an alarming rate, with the result we have lost many precious lives for having no fault of them. One of the main reasons of these fatal accidents is the rash and over loading in the vehicles. I would like to mention here that normally 07 passengers are allowed to travel in a Tata Sumo. This has been authorized by traffic authorities. But one feels quite astonished and surprised that instead of booking 07 passengers, Tata Sumo drivers never hesitate in loading 10-12 passengers which is quite contrary to the existing norms and rules. This is a common practice amongst Sumo drivers plying their vehicles on Jammu-Poonch route. Booking two passengers in the front, four in the middle and four in the rear seats is their daily routine. These drivers, instead of abiding by the rules and regulations, are in the habit of paying “Hafta” to the Traffic authorities and thus befool the innocent passengers without caring for their seats comforts and precious lives. The authorities at the helm of affairs are once again requested to kindly to look into this daily problem of the passengers so that only passed number of passengers is allowed to travel in Sumo on Jammu-Poonch road. Defaulters be punished under the law of the land.
Yours etc….
