SRINAGAR, Jan 24: Jammu and Kashmir Daily Wagers Forum today alleged that Union Ministers who visited the Kashmir as part of an outreach program overlooked their demands.
President of the Forum, Sajad Ahmad Parray, said that the visiting Union Ministers did not utter a single word regarding their issues. He said that there are nearly 60,000 daily wagers working in different departments in Jammu and Kashmir and their families are passing through difficult times in absence of a regularization policy.
He said on 5th August the Prime Minister in his address admitted that injustice has happened with the daily wagers and assured redressal of their issues.”Even after five months have passed, there is no progress in the issue,” he said.
He said that the Government should look into the issue of the workers who have delivered their service in adverse conditions. “The situation that developed after 5th August did not deter us form delivering our services. We risked our lives,” he said.
He appealed the administration to take up the matter with the Prime Minister for speedy redressal.
