NEW DELHI, Nov 18: Accusing the opposition parties of trying to sabotage the “demonetisation” drive, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), MoS PMO, Personnel, Public Grievances, Pensions, Atomic Energy and Space, Dr Jitendra Singh has called for sustained public campaign to make the masses aware of the benefits of demonetization as well as a series of other progressive initiatives undertaken by the Modi Government over the last two years.
Addressing a meeting of Joint Hindi Salahkar Samiti of the Departments of Atomic Energy and Department of Space, Dr Jitendra Singh said that those who oppose the Government’s decision to demonetise the currency or demand the roll back of the decision, are, in fact, precisely the ones who have much to hide and less to show. Even as the common man has, in spite of initial inconvenience during the transition phase, welcomed the decision, it is mainly the leaders of certain political parties and their henchmen who are opposing it because they feel rattled and nervous.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the function of a committee like Hindi Salahkar Samiti is not only to promote the use of Hindi language, but also to put to use the Hindi language as a medium to carry the message of the Modi Government’s incredible new schemes and initiatives to every nook and corner of the country. In doing so, he said, they would not only be able to promote the cause of Hindi, but would also turn it into a medium of communication for larger interests of the nation.
Lauding the contribution of intellectuals including writers and broadcasters, who happen to be the members of the committee, Dr Jitendra Singh said, their potential can be put to optimum use when it serves not only the propagation of the language, but goes beyond it in the service of the use of language for nation building. He also announced that hereafter, the meeting of the committee will be held every quarterly i.e. once in three months and each of the members will be requested to take up one project each for the promotion of a cause.
Besides the nominated expert members of the Committee, senior officers of the Departments of Atomic Energy and Space including their Secretaries attended the meeting.
