Opposition funding anti-CAA protests in UP: Adityanath

LUCKNOW, Jan 21: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Tuesday claimed that opposition was instrumental in disturbing peace in the name of anti-Citizenship Amendment Act protests in the state.
“We have to shed the communist mentality as opposition parties are spending money to disturb the peace in the state,” he alleged.
Addressing a huge gathering in presence of Union Home minister Amit Shah in a pro-CAA rally here in the state capital, Mr Adityanath alleged that the opposition was spreading lies with regards to CAA and confusing Muslims.
“This CAA should have been brought 70 years back after Independence, but the Congress had no such intention as it only wanted to do politics. But our PM and Home Minister had the courage to bring this law to give citizenship to the refugees from Pakistan, Bangladesh and Afganistan,” he stated. He stated that the opposition parties are distributing money to organise dharnas against CAA in the state but people of the country are supporting PM on this issue and will not allow the conspiracy against ” Ek Bharat- Shrest Bharat”. The UP CM also appealed to the people to be aware of the conspiracy of the opposition in misleading a particular community by making them feel that the CAA was against them. “The CAA is only to give citizenship to the refugees of minorities of Bangladesh, Pakistan and Afganistan and not to snatch anyone’s citizenship,” he clarified.
During the rally, large number of refugees, including Kashmiri Pandits, were present.
UP BJP president Swantra Deo Singh, Deputy Chief Ministers Keshav Prasad Maurya and Dr Dinesh Sharma were also present in the rally. (UNI)
