While BJP workers sitting on fast at Gole Market Udhampur, to protest against disruption of Parliament session by Congress party, he said, Prime Minister Narendra Modi enjoys such high rating in the media that, one just has to issue a critical statement naming Modi and one will make news, not for what one has said, but for what has been said about Modi.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, it has become a trend even among small local groups and parties to make critical statements against Prime Minister to be in the news. Even in Jammu region, several small local groups, which have no following in public and which have, all these years, been beneficiaries of favours doled out by their Kashmir-centric political masters, are now trying to seek relevance by questioning the work done for the region by Modi and his MPs.
He asserted that what Congress failed to do in 70 years was done in four years of Modi rule and highlighted the game changing projects sanctioned by NDA Government for the State during this period.
Devika river has been flowing through the town of Udhampur for centuries together, said Dr Jitendra Singh and asked, why these self-styled protagonists had to wait for 70 years before an amount of Rs.170.50 crore was sanctioned by the Modi Government for the cleaning of river Devika. Similarly, he asked, why Udhampur had to wait for a Radio Station for 50 years, since the demand was first raised in 1965 at the time of Indo-Pak war.
Coming down heavily on Congress, Dr Jitendra Singh said, the party is responsible for depriving the people of India of important legislations including the one related to the prevention of corruption bill which was moved by Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT).
Dr Jitendra Singh credited PM Narendra Modi and BJP national president, Amit Shah for having introduced a new political culture of 24 into 7 commitment and total dedication to the service of people. It is now for the people of this country, he said, to see and decide who are these opposition Members of Parliament who have discredited the mandate given to them by indulging in mayhem in the well of the house instead of discussing and debating issues of relevance to the poor and the weaker sections.
Holding Congress and NC responsible for the plight of farmers he questioned why the two parties could not take a decision for over three decades on Shahpur Kandi Project.
MP Shamsher Singh Manhas who also sat on fast along with Dr Jitendra Sing and other BJP leaders lambasted Congress for its anti democratic role in the Parliament and said the people of country will not tolerate this any more now.
BJP general secretary, Pawan Khajuria, MLA Chenanai Dena Nath Bhagat, MLA Ramban , Neelam Langeh and other leaders were on fast.
BJP also observed one day “Loktantra Bachao Upvaas (fast to save democracy)” in Jammu, led by MP Lok Sabha, Jugal Kishore Sharma along with BJP State president & MLA Sat Sharma and other senior party leaders at Pt. Prem Nath Dogra Chowk, Jammu.
Jugal Kishore Sharma, while informing about the reasons for organizing the fast, said that the Congress has murdered democracy by disrupting the Parliament throughout the session itself. He said that being a MP in Lok Sabha is a privilege entrusted upon a few to protect and project the rights and demands of common masses. The Congress party hampered Parliament resulting in complete washout of the Session, in which important discussions regarding budget and other issues were to be highlighted, he added.
Sat Sharma while speaking said that this fast has been organized in the leadership of Member of Parliament who stands witness to the misdeeds of Congress party in the supreme house of democracy. He said that the loss which has incurred due to disruption in the Parliament session by Congress party is being burdened on the pockets of the citizens of this country and the Congress will surely pay for this. Congress which has always misled the common masses on one issue or another is playing with people’s time, money and emotions, adding to the loss of Rs 375 crore in this session alone.
In Leh the BJP MP Thupstan Chhewang sat on fast in protest against Congress for disrupting the Lok Sabha. Addressing the gathering he said he had never seen such instances in the past where entire Parliament Session was washed out without any discussion because opposition party did not let it function.
