Excelsior Correspondent
KATHUA, Oct 21: Lambasting the opposition parties, Union Minister of State in PMO with independent charge of North Eastern States, Dr Jitendra Singh today accused them of trying to divide nationalist forces in J&K for their own vested interests over the years together.
Addressing a meeting of PoJK Refugees and youth during his visit to Nagri and Kathua townships today, Dr Jitendra Singh said that opposition parties Congress and National Conference (NC) which ruled the State for decades together never took pains in settling the problems of the PoJK and West Pak refugees as well as the border people and tried to divide them for their vested interests.
He said unlike this, Narendera Modi Government which is wedded to the welfare and betterment of the common masses of the country and has made a commitment to fulfill the dream of Deen Dayal Upadhyay, the former Jan Sangh president and a great ideologue to serve the last man in the last queue, he said “we did not spare even a minute in sanctioning the relief package of Rs 2000 crore for PoJK refugees’’.
Dr Jitendra Singh said when the issue was brought in the notice of Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh during his visit to J&K regarding payment of relief to PoJK refugees, the Union Government did not spare a minute in announcing the package. Likewise, the Modi Government announced a relief package of Rs 5.5 lakh per family for West Pak refugees who were too deprived and neglected during the decades long Congress –NC rule, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that the State Government has been asked by the Centre to expedite the distribution of compensation among the PoJK as well as West Pak refugees by simplifying the procedure and expressed the hope that the process will be expedited by the Governor’s administration now.
There was no delay on part of Union Government in distribution of compensation to the PoJK refugees earlier also but the process was delayed by the State Government only.
Dr Jitendra Singh said that instructions have also been given to identify those PoJK refugees putting up outside the J&K including Delhi and in this regard the refugee representatives were also taken into confidence by the Union Government so that they too can take the benefit of the package.
Dr Jitendra Singh said payment of compensation to PoJK refugees, West Pak refugees and giving the benefit of reservation to denizens of International Border at par with people living on Line of Control (LoC) are the revolutionary decisions of Modi Government for the people of J&K.
He said earlier UPA Government led by Congress and State Government of NC-Congress never showed any interest in mitigating the sufferings of these people but only exploited them for their vote bank. In comparison to that, Modi Government has made a commitment to ‘Sabka Sath Sabka Vikas’ “as our slogan is justice to all and appeasement to none and we are strictly working on this formula’’, he added.
Dr Jitendra Singh, while complimenting the youth in playing a decisive role and making the ULB elections a success in the State, said that Modi Government is dedicated to welfare and betterment of youth to build the New India.
He asked the youth to be part and parcel of this programme to build the India of Modi’s dreams by not becoming the job seekers but job providers by taking the benefit of many welfare schemes launched by the Modi Government for their betterment.
Expressing his confidence in the outcome of ULB elections in Kathua district, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the detractors of BJP have been proved totally wrong that party will face a waterloo after the Rassana episode and the opposition within party over this issue. He said instead BJP has emerged more stronger as people have full faith in the leadership of Party’s national president, Amit Shah and policies and programmes of Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. “The opposition has been proved totally wrong as we got majority in Hiranagar’’, he added.
In response to a question that Party didn’t secure majority in Kathua Municipal Council and Municipal Committee Nagri Parole, Dr Jitendra Singh said that the Independents who have won in these MCs are also our own people.
He said the BJP believes in democracy and the people and groups of our ideology may align with the party to form the Council.
