Opinion poll predicts hung Assembly

JAMMU, Jan 16: Latest opinion poll by ABP-Nielson today predicted a hung Assembly in Delhi with BJP projected to emerge as single largest party with 34 seats but falling short of two to reach the magical figure.
Similar to 2013 poll results, Arvind Kejriwal led AAP has been shown getting 28 seats this time also while Congress is managing somehow to get 8 seats again. However, Independents and others are left with nil this time unlike the previously when their number was three.
It may be recalled that according to ABP-Nielson opinion polls in November and December last year, the BJP was predicted to win 46 and 45 seats, respectively. However, this time it has come down to just 34, which is seen as a sharp fall.
The good news for AAP is that there is a rise of almost 10 seats in the party tally and it is second in race. AAP was projected to win 18 and 17 seats in the surveys conducted in November and December, respectively.
According to the latest opinion poll, the BJP vote share stands at 35 percent, AAP at 31 percent, Congress at 24 percent and others 10 percent.
Arvind Kejriwal is seen as the most preferred CM candidate in Delhi with 54 percent people favouring him for the top post. BJP’s Harsh Vardhan has been preferred by 29 percent while Sheila Dikshit and Jagdish Mukhi got the support of 5 percent and three percent, respectively as suitable candidate for CM post.
However, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is still the most popular leader in Delhi as he gets 49 percent of votes. Kejriwal gets 42 percent while Rahul Gandhi only 7 percent.
Majority of the Muslim respondents (59 percent) are intending to vote for AAP as per the survey.
